Does anyone have one of these?
I like the idea, but my experience is that the thing that goes first with a rug is the outer layer, and that seems to be the massively expensive bit of the rug?

I buy nothing but Rambo, have done for years and years, and never had any of them "go" - even my 18-ish year old original :)

I have a duo, which I like but have a few observations. Firstly, that the liner seems to be quite "static-y" on my horse. Secondly, I find the full neck a bit tight and my horse finds it itchy; and thirdly the velcro that attaches the neck is VERY hard to undo (which I realise is kind of the point mind you!)

What I have decided is that I bought the Duo for the wrong horse. My TB was, I feel, not warm enough in it last winter, even with the 300g liner. She needed a neck but didn't like the full neck every day. So this winter she wore her wug with another rug underneath, and this kept her warmer. My other horse, who is a WB, doesn't need the neck, so I am going to sell her Wug and buy her the Duo, as she'd be much better with the variety of options the Duo gives you.

That said, my TB has been wearing the Duo at night now that she's out, and it's great at this time of year as I'm playing around with layers so much.

bit waffly sorry! So to summarise they are great but I don't find them as warm as I'd expected to.

Rambos are the only rugs that actually fit my mum's odd-shaped horse! She has a Duo (very useful rug) and a Supreme lightweight. They're very tough and do exactly the job they should do. The Duo was very useful when it got used over the winter a couple of years ago - she was in a field and I had to cart her change of rug with me across the field and change it without getting anything wet in the mud or snow - it was so easy to whip the outer off, stick the inner bit on, stick the outer back on top and fix it all up. Less to carry across the fields, too!

Bought a Duo for my new horse last year. Briliant rug. Certainly won't be buying and different in the future!

i love rambo rugs!
i've got the duo and it's lasted really well, as have all my other rambo rugs. it doesn't have leg straps either which makes it a bit quicker (i'm lazy) if you've got several to turn out :)

You do get what you pay for. The only disappointment is the neck cover is tight; apart from that i can't fault mine

I love mine. My horse lives out 24/7, 365. It is really simple to just take different sized liners up morning and evening. I even have the 400g liner - such a warm rug.

The neck was very tight - but I just went out and bought a bigger size!!

Hated the Duo I had. It was dreadful - it leaked like hell round the seams, rubbed, wasn't nearly big enough (as in generous enough - the neck was very skimpy even on my very slim TB x, it didnt even do up round my Welsh D's neck!) and the neck attachment ripped several times. I gave up and sold it on ebay ;) WB Tristar is brilliant however!

Fantastic rug!!!!!!!!!! Had mine 4 yrs now, washes and re-proofs up like new and the new 400g liner makes it a very warm rug. Have used the liners with stable rugs too when extra warmth needed in the cold winter just gone. They come with a 3yr guarantee so if you have any problems like above poster had then your covered. The new chocolate brown edged with cream is gorgeous, Im going to save for one for my other horse who is tri-coloured, will look lovely on him.

I have only used Rambo's over the past 15 years. Well, up until I bought a Duo. I loved the Rambo's.... Started with the Wug, then a Wug Plus and then went onto using the Supreme's. And then..... I bought a Duo.

Put it this way, I had the Duo it a for a couple of months, then sold it on eBay to get rid of it and replaced it with a Weatherbeeta Tristar. The neck on the Duo was too short and too narrow (and on a still puney 2 year old, too) and the front velco fastening on the rug itself continually gaped open. The Duo liners fray quite easily, too. All the liners I've seen have holes in them and fray marks, even after a few months' use.

My conclusion was the quality of the rug wasn't up to the Rambo Supreme or Wug standard. I wouldn't recommend a Duo, personally.

If I didn't like the Weatherbeeta Tristar so much and definitely wanted a Rambo - I'd opt for a light or medium weight Rambo Supreme and layer it with an under rug as required.

I've had my Duo for two winters now and wouldn't be without it! The 400g liner has been a God send for my wimp of a horse (he used to have to wear 2 T/O rugs in the depths of winter!)

RE: TIGHT NECK COVER - I had this problem, not the tightness but it was too short, so I bought a Premier Equine one (they do them in diff weights too), which fitted my Duo like the original one, its much longer and more generous and cost about £30. So there is hope if you love the rug and hate the neck cover :)!!!

I have the Duo and the WB Tristar.

The Tristar is a warmer rug which is more generous in sizing. BUT, I do find it is very heavy when wet and takes much longer than the Duo to dry.

Other than that - there is nothing between them.

I do agree that you could go and buy a bigger neck cover BUT when you've paid over £200 for the rug, I don't think you should have to!

PRECISELY! And whilst they're at it, Horsewear Irelend - sort out the gaping front on the Duo, too! It's too expensive a rug to expect buyers to tolerate basic fitting issues. It's no longer a unique design (the outer shell, with a layer system) and there are lots of cheaper (and better IMO) alternatives. Up yer game Rambo!!!

WetandMuddy: I'm surprised you say that about the Tristar (about it being heavy and taking longer to dry). I actually find it very easy to handle when wet (and I'm 5'1 with a wriggly 16.2 lump of a horse) and find it dries brilliantly just draped over her straw bales over night. It's always dried by morning no matter how wet it's been the day before. No different to the Rambos IMO.

Now.... the Fal Goliath with full neck! Now that's a monster of a rug!!!! My 6'9" Goliath weighs about 3/4 of a ton - even when it's bone dry. I moved mine only this moring and thought that. I've not had to use it on my filly yet but I'm dreading it once she's clipped and does. I'll have to start weight training in readiness. LOL. :D:D

Now that other manufacturers have started doing the liners I think Rambo need to catch up as in my opinion the premier equine trio is better but the weatherbeeta tristar is better again and both are cheaper
