I have a 4 yr old Highland pony, my first native since a child and am struggling getting rugs to fit his wide chest and shorter but very deep neck and chest!
I appreciate he doesnt need rugging but the flies do get bad and I want to protect his glorious mane from being destroyed from grooming. Hes had 2 fly rugs ripped already from playing... in 2 days :( , so Im thinking of the Rambo Protector or any other stronger made fly rugs?? Not PE as they rubbed my last horse and nothing all cotton as he does run hot.
I believe they come up big, hes inbetween 6'3 and 6'6 in other makes and Im not sure what size to go for mainly as his chest is already pretty big! Seen a 6' 6 2nd hand but Im bothered it will be massive!!
Any advice re sizing or recommendations please?

Ohhh, go look at the Rambo Optimo on sale at Hope Valley Saddlery if they still have them. I’m loving mine!

Sorry re-read it’s not mesh so not what you want :(

I seen these before, what a fab price!! Sadly no sizes left for us but I need as bullet proof as possible :(

My welshie has had one for years (he also runs hot), I think they are probably as tough as you'd get for a mesh option - he isn't particularly big chested -for a welsh but the v-neck really works well for him. In his rhino/amigo rugs he's a 6', in his rambos inc. the protector he's a 5'9.

The Rambo Fly buster is the same as the protector from my understanding material wise etc except it has the vamoose fly repellent on it. I've got the buster for my chunky Welsh D & it fits him fab with no rubbing!

Thank you, Ive ordered the bug buster at a decent price. Fingers crossed it fits and lasts longer than a day!!
