rambo rugs for cobs!

My daughters cob has a rambo stable rug, he's not very broad but he fits 6'9 in rambo, 6'3/6'6 in a masta rug, so it's perhaps better to go up a size.

My horse (14.2 hh cob with quite broad shoulders) has a number of Horsewear rugs: Amigo, Rhino and Rambo. They all fit really well. He has a Rambo heavyweight wug turnout and that fits very nicely. Somehow Horsewear rugs seem to fit all the horses I know!

So would they fit a fine TB, having trouble with fleeces this year gaping at the chest

I used them on my old TB and they fit her well. If your horse is very narrow, then the Wug style works really well. I've used them a lot in the past on narrow yearlings and older youngsters.

I've only ever bought the fly rugs but found they are too tight around the chest, and that was still buying a size up.

Been sitting here all morning trying to look for a different brand!

While we're on the subject.... is there anyone who uses shires rugs on their cobs with a good fit?

Some of the new shires rugs (some of the Tempests I think) don't have adjustable front straps any more and these aren't as good for big shoulders and wide chests. The Shires rugs with adjustable fronts suit a much wider range of builds. Look for ones with clips AND buckles on the chest if your horse is especially chunky.

Super, I did notice that with the tempests so avoided them. I was looking at the Sweet-Itch Combo they have and none of the descriptions tell you what the front fastening is like, and all the pictures hide it! I must be going bananas!

I've got a traddie cob and always go for Weatherbeeta as I find they'll always fit, with the exception of one very wacky-shaped rug a few years ago - which DOES fit my Welsh D mare!!

Have just bought a lightweight Shires which doesn't fit either him or my Welshie-D - looking at it, it says "Made in China" which probably explains it coz they've probably never ever seen a horse; think it might just fit a giraffe! Needless to say that's one rug which will be going back!

He does have a Rambo hoody sweet itch rug which fits him fine.

The amigo Xl rugs are load more generous i recently got a Rambo Optimo for my big chap and it is much more roomly than the other Rambos it is deep bigger round the neck and the hood does up with a nice amount of room
