I want to buy some new turnout rugs for my horses for the winter, I believe Rambo is the best make (I've tried many other makes but they on survive a winter or 2 if your lucky!) but which design do I go for? As I will be buying 6 so I thought I had better do some research first!! Thanks

Ok to narrow it down... I want heavy weights with necks, not sure if I want detachable or not, so it's a choice between... Duo, Supreme or Optimo? I used amigo medium weights and they all fit by spotty horses fine. If anyone has feedback on those rugs it would be great to hear it? As you know they aren't cheap. I live a 1 miles from the cliffs so it gets rather rough in the winter!

I love Rambo rugs. My favourites are the Rambo Supreme and Rambo Plus. The Rambo Plus isn't easy to get hold of any more. The Rambo Supreme is loadsamoney but I have bought mine secondhand.

I don't like liners so the Duo isn't for me.

I think you will be making a good investment in Rambo. You might pick up some ebay bargains before the autumn rush!

My share horse has had a Rambo liner rug since before 2009 and only this year he's managed to pull 2 of the X straps off and one of the clips on the front but the liner is as good as new. He still wears the rug with a few repairs and it's still waterproof!

My boy has one of his since 2006. He got his rug caught on something when out in the field some time during the second winter and removed one of the clips attaching the liner to the rug. Rug and liner were both unharmed.

I'm a massive fan of all Horseware rugs.
With the Duo, the necks seem to be a smaller fit than the supreme (although my supreme is seconds, so could be a little weird in sizing), so if you've a horse with a chunky neck, be aware that the neck cover may be on the small side.

Love my Rambo Supremes! It has put every other turn out I have had in the shade........ 1 heavy weight has now been on my last 3 horses (thankfully they took the same size) and I was so impressed that I got the MW too......may even splash out for the LW as the one I have fits SOOOOO badly compared to the Rambo Supreme.......

Rambo is fab IMO, I had a supreme for last horse but sold it as new one doesn't even get anywhere near needing a heavyweight! But if he did I'd get another supreme for definite. I actually find the rambo rugs wider round the chest than the fal rugs and for my big ISH I have the rambo excel which is for the larger horse and they are great. Lives out all winter so well worth the money.

What breed(s) are you wanting to kit out? I love Rambo rugs too, have worked brilliantly on all the horses I've had thus far (mainly Quarter Horses, but also one Sport Horse TB x Connemara). I personally prefer the Duo as I have one QH which overheats easily, so being able to lower/raise the filling at the drop of a hat based on weather conditions is useful, but I've never had to repair or replace one yet.
I did get an Amigo t/o instead of a Duo for one horse one year and although I found it good in length it was a bit narrower in fit and didn't fit so neatly around the wither/neck.

I bought the amigo heavyweight rugs,1200 denier not the 600,for my two last year and really impressed with them, really warm and snuggly and a fraction of the price of rambos which I have bought in the past. They cost about £90 each including detachable necks, but I did a lot of googling to find at that price tho'.

Thank you to everyone who replied, I have had 4 Rambo Supreme's arrive on my door step this morning from a company called Wynnstay, if you are looking for Rambo rugs their prices couldn't be beaten £234 for a Surpeme and same for a Duo, everywhere else was £300+!!

Just to point out if at all helpful,,,All the Rambo originals apart from the wug now have the loops to attatch the liners, as does the 1200 Amigo Bravo range.

I got the New Rambo 100gm last year (such a useful weight) with a lightweight hood.
I then got a 100gm liner to make a mw, as much as he needed last year, and recently got an Amigo 1200 lw (which you can now put liners in) and an Amigo filled hood to use with the Rambo (half the cost).

I have now got a 200gm liner and can 'make'pretty much any weight I please!

Horseware rules, Rambo expensive but sooooo tough. And the 1200 Amigo is a sturdy little number too.

I love Rambo rugs! I have one of the Original Rugs that is now almost 15 years old and has never needed reproofing or repairing! Good value there! I have a couple of Rhino rugs too which are great, and not quite as pricey as the Rambos - they also now come with liner loops which is handy :)
