Rambo supreme 50g turnout

I like the shires highlander rugs. I had to sell my rambo collection for this reason
I bought a Highlander no fill this summer & it fits him lovely & doesn't look like a mini skirt, but the clips are high up & push in his neck. Its ok for a no fill on & off but I wouldn't like it on 24/7 days in a row like a heavier winter rug.

so, my new rug arrived . Fits perfect on my 16hd chunk ID . Hes usually a 6ft 9, so went for the 6ft 6 and its spot on.
Ooh ok I'm now torn!! He's usually a good 6ft9 as 16.2 ish, but based on what you're saying a 6ft6 should be fine length & shoulder wise in the Optimo? He's very deep in the girth & shoulder.

Yes , from what I’ve seen . Try a size down . It’s worked for us

This is mine in her normal size. She has an Amigo LW, a Mark Todd LW, Weatherbeeta fly sheets, and a Bucas sheet (so far!) all are 6’6 and so it this so I’m not so sure I’d agree with sizing down.
I’m glad I didn’t .

I think Asha got the optimo possibly? From her reply above. It’s designed for bigger horses I think

Shires Highlander:
Right, have written about this before, and was so pis*ed off I even got out tape measure, existing rugs, and measured the difference (which is considerable):

Shires Highlander : for years been very useful for deep necked, broad animals with plenty of heartroom.
Two qualities: the higher denier which used to have breast clips with plenty of adjustability, ‘Highlander Plus’;
The lower denier with breast buckles, good choice of length, ‘Highlander Original’.

Last season: Shires altered breast fastenings on both rug grades to two clips, fitted rather higher and with minimal adjustability in comparison with before.

If you’ve got a big fronted horse - you will definitely need the saddler to extend the straps for the breast clips to work, and likely to find they are still rather too high for comfort - on your brand new rug.

Spoken to three different retailers about this - who were all too aware - and luckily managed to get a couple of old stock for mine.

Well, i have given in and bought my first Rambo! After being a die hard Weatherbeta fan for 20+ years, yesterday was the final straw, my poor horse came in shivering from head to toe after his 100g leaked again! This rug was £200+ and was replaced by WB after the last one leaked like a sieve, so i will be writing to them again as they have a 3 year waterproof warranty and the replacement rug is 1 year old. I pray the Rambo lives up to expectations!
