Anyone got one?

Had a Rambo Duo (100gr) plus liners for my old boy which was an amazing rug with so much flexibility.

I bought a PE rug for my mare with the liners (as all of the Rambos were out of stock at the time!) but my dad (72!) is finding it too heavy to lift off and onto her so thinking of getting her a Rambo set.

I have seen that the Rambo Supreme Lite is much cheaper.. is it as robust as the duo? It is only 50grams.

Does anyone know if PE liners fit rambos too?

Or do I just stick to what I know and get another Rambo duo? Although, the new colour is white!

Second the Rhinos. I have 3 which are 8 years old, take liners and have never leaked once. They are lovely and light as no fills and not heavy when the liners are in. For the price they are such good value as they just seem to last forever.

I have also had some brilliant Rhino LW's that I use with liners and they've stood up to some really terrible weather and lasted years. Having said that, Hope Valley have the 50g Rambo for the same price as a Rhino at the moment in black so that could be worth looking at?

The Hope Valley one is the one I am thinking of. Just aware it is only 50 gram but I guess I can use my liners on it.
Just wanted to check it is as waterproof as the duo and not more like a rain sheet with it being thinner.

Had rhinos in the past too but found the rambos to fit mine better.

I dont know about brands of rug but I started riding aged 61 and my arms are not strong. May be my method could help your Dad?

Our rugs are kept hanging over a rope in share mare's box.
I start by folding the rug from tail to head, inside out and then do the same again. This gives me a bulky roll which I am able to lift across the horse's neck. With the neck buckles obviously towards her head.
I then unroll the rug towards her tail. (Head to tail follows the lie of her hair)
Then I walk round to make sure the other side of the rug is hanging down straight. Some rugs have a line of tape down the centre of the back which is a help.
People argue about whether to do up the front buckles first. I do and then the surcingles.

The supremes which were made in Ireland are excellent, the ones made elsewhere (Cambodia IIRC) have issues with fit and waterproofing. I prefer to get 2nd hand Duos.

Horseware and PE liners are compatible.

Recently, a group of us purchased Rambo Duo turnout rugs (100g) which were made in Ireland. The fit of these rugs has been quite inconsistent. Horseware's response was that the rugs made in Ireland were handmade and therefore some inconsistencies in fit/cut were to be expected.

I have quite a few Cambodia made Rambo rugs and the fit has been consistent. They've been highly hydrophobic too. I haven't dealt with any waterproofing issues. There might've been a bad batch or two, but my experience has been positive, just as my experience overall with Rambo rugs has been.

I like the Rhino line, but in my experience they fit snugger and/or shorter than Rambo on my horses.

The new duo isn't white, it is grey. Rambo has made a 100g in grey for quite some time. Although it shows dirt more than a darker color, I kind of like a lighter color that doesn't absorb so much heat/warmth from the sun. Bucas has a silver rug specifically for that reason. Could help a bit on those days that could be on the verge of too warm when the sun comes out, I guess.

Can i ask more about this? How do you know if they're made in Ireland or Cambodia?

OP - can't comment on Rambo but I have Amigo 50g and it's been great and I use it with liners. I plan to get a Rambo Duo for young horse once he finishes growing as I have one for mare and it's great.
I too find PE super heavy and would never have one due to that. My friend has one and I struggle a lot with it.

I’ve had a few rugs this winter! The PE titan leaked like a sieve and was very heavy, got money credit back.

I had the Rambo optimo but my youngster liked to pull at the shoulder pleat and rip them! Thought I’d try to Rambo supreme as no pleats for the youngster to get hold of. I bought direct from horseware in their winter sale. It wasn’t even on a week and the neck cover velcro came off. Turns out it was a manufacture fault so they credited all my money back.

Decided to try the amigo super plus that is 2150D strength and it’s been great! The youngster has only managed to pull a bit of the neck cover lining out!

I had the PE lnrers, Rambo duo liners and the Optimo liners and they all fit in all the different rugs.

I now have a rug graveyard in my tack room! lol! 🤣

I've got a 0g Rambo Supreme and it's excellent. Very waterproof, fits brilliantly though it is a bit heavier to handle than the Duo I have. I bought it to give me a spare outer and also so I had a 0g and 300g option with the liners I have. The fit is the same as my Duo.

I just got the rambo supreme on half price sale at Hope Valley. The fit is very different to a rhino.

I bought a second hand rhino wug in 5.9ft for Bert it was tiny way to tight across the chest and neck and not very deep. I know rambos are bigger fit than Rhinos due to having both for Homey. But the 5.9 supreme is very much bigger especially around the chest and the rug is a lot deeper and very long at the front. Also the surcingles are a lot longer as well. Having said that I had the same issue with the surcingles on Homey's original but they are detachable and I got a shorter set from horsewear which would probably work for Bert if I keep the supreme which I am not sure I will do as it is very long at the front. Shame as apart from that it would be a fairly good fit for him and he is a difficult shape to fit for. Typical forester short legs quite wide round the neck longish back for his size but he is fairly narrow in the chest compared to Homey.

Before I bought the supreme I tried Homey's 6ft original with leg arches on Bert to see if that fitted because the rhino was so small and it was too big but not hugely so. I was therefore suprised the supreme was so big in 5.9ft for Bert.

The supreme is quite heavy but I expect it is really tough. I prefer the original with leg arches that I got for Homey. It is lighter and also takes the liner system.

The reason I bought the supreme is that I had a good experience with Rambo for Homey. I got his rugs in the sale too and they are strong dernier. The two bucas rugs in 600 I have for Bert keep getting ripped one. His LW is beyond repair by me and his 100g so far the rips have been small enough to repair myself. I now keep a sewing kit at the yard.

It is amazing how different rugs the same size even made by the same company fit so differently.

I bought the bucas smartex for Bert in 5.9 as it was 1680 dernier and it was huge whereas the 5.9 greenline was not.

I also bought a weatherbeeta in 5.9ft 1000 dernier and that is very big around the chest and long at the front.

It is quite frustrating but I went through this with Homey with rugs when he was Bert's age tried various brands and ended up with Rambo. They are expensive full price but they do come on sale and Homey's lasted his lifetime and still in good condition. He only lived till 20 sadly but I expect if had made it into his 30s he would not have needed more rugs as the rambos are so strong. They are an investment if they fit!
