Does anyone have one and are they any good, I have visions of it being too breathable and the horse getting wet or too thick and waterproof and him getting too hot
I have them for my horses (only as I get them half price) and sell them in Norway. They work well, a lot of people just put a thin rainsheet with neck on though to get the same effect until the rain stops I never have mine on all the time, I just put it on and take it off with the rain but then I am home all day and able to pop into the paddock and change them.
I love mine - keeps horse's back dry in heavy rain, and doesn't seem to get hot - I only use it on wet days, takes seconds to attach/detach! I ended up buying a 6'9" liner for a 6'6" rug - not sure if rug had stretched, but it was a much better fit - well worth the investment in my opionion!
I have one on a mare that sufferes from sweet itch - its great, I only use it on wet days tho, if its baking sunshine she has sweatted a little underneath it. Its incredibly lightweight too!
