A rather unseasonal post, I know :p I'm just trying to get my rugs organised whist they are generally a bit cheaper...

I have found that for my more solid girl, she fits better in her Rambo plus, (an old Navy with Green trim one), than any of her Rhinos, due to the bigger necks and deeper body they have, and hence I am gradually 'upgrading' her wardrobe.

Back in winter I bought her a Rambo Supreme, which I am very pleased with on her, :) and so today I bought her a Duo :D (a bargain on ebay ;)). I was just wondering if anyone owns both rugs and can confirm that they are similar in terms of depth in the body and size of the neck cover?

I'm also just a little concerned that the Duo will be larger, as it is designed to be worn with under rugs most of the time, but I've actually bought it because I wanted a good 100gm rug, and don't really intend to use it with the liners...

And, as one more question, how then does the newer Rambo plus compare? (the red and silver one) It looks like it isn't as generous in the neck and depth as the duo and supreme?! Can anyone tell me how it compares to either?

Thank you in advance :)

Can't compare the newer Rambo to the earlier models, other that to say all four of our horses have one! The fit is good, and generous. None of the nags is particularly "light", and one in particular spent the snowy period out 24/7 with his Rambo Plus, under rugs galore, and a full clip, with no rubs and no reclipping, so obviously quite cosy! The Rambo Plus, and our medium weight FalPros, are also the only rugs to bear up against the teeth of the sole rug-muncher in the field!.

I had a Duo for my old TB - however he was only a 6'6 (max - even fitted my 6' Fal Bulldog) in length and was 17.2 - so there was a lot of horse to cram into a smallish rug! I found the duo sat a little high at the front and left a lot of foreleg exposed, and also it was only just past a half-neck. But then my boy was freakishly tall and compact so that may be why. There is a small mare at my yard (maybe 15.2) who is quite slightly built and her duo is enormous - if she were mine I wouldnt turn her out in the lightweight turnout on its own as the surcingles just dont come up short enough. Its ok with the liner in though. Mind you she is very long in the body. No help really. :)

Both big boys are 16.3 Necks come up to ears, slightly further away on one than the other. When they graze, and stretch out, obviously neck not quite as covered, but never felt they were exposed to any real extent. When the weather was c**p, they backed into the hedge and didn't bother grazing, so necks well covered when needed.

and thinking about it, the little mare's neck cover on her duo is weird, it isnt long enough and you can't fasten it loose enough. It's tight when she has her head at a normal level so when she's grazing I would imagine its far too restrictive. I guess it depends totally on the build of horse!

Oh dear, now I don't know what to expect of the duo! :o

I guess I shall have to wait and see what it looks like on her!!!

I have a Rambo Duo which I bought in the winter of 2006. Have to say its one of the best rugs Ive ever had, fits my horse really well and has kept her snug during bad weather. Its washed and re-proofed like new each time its been cleaned and I wouldnt have anything else. The liners have had other uses too like under stable rugs when it was really cold. Fab rug!!

sorry, I haven't helped at all. I loved my duo if that helps! I would buy another for Porridge if it wasn't for her rug-devouring 'friends'. :)

LOL! No, it all helps :D

I am hopeful that as Star fits in the supreme so well, then the Duo will suit her too. I got it at a bargain price though, so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't :)
