Sorry *cough* I meant showjumping clinic given by an eventer
blush.gif
Forgive me
grin.gif

How was it?

Well.....actually....it was VERY good
grin.gif

It was basically a grid clinic....and *blush*...Bo stopped at the first fence the first time through it....too many poles lol!

I should explain that Bo doesn't normally do grids, and certainly doesn't normally jump from a trot

Anyway, he was being a complete lazy sh1t through the grid but Penny had clocked him from the start. She knew what he was capable of and persisted with him. The group we were in was the 2'9 - 3' group (biggest offered), but she realised he wasn't going to get out of bed for that, so, after adding a few A frames, and poles laid across the top of oxers, we ended up jumping through a 4' grid with Bo finally making an effort

I thought Penny was a super trainer. She got the measure of Bo within a few minutes and really wasn't going to let him get away with anything. I just might try and get some more lessons with her in fact

How was Solihull !?

Hey brilliant! I think the mark of a good trainer is that they make an accurate evalution very early on and change things to suit the horse and get the best out of them. I have always thought she was a smart rider and looks like she is a smart trainer too.
More lessons from an eventer eh?! Where will it end?

I couldn't agree more
smile.gif

She had a real mixed bag of horses in the group...from a 14.2hh pony club pony who had to gallop at everything, to Bo who has jumped 1.30m+ at BSJA. She tailored her tutoring to each of us, and was very observant as to the specific needs of each horse / rider combination. She didn't interfere with my technique particularly, but was very keen to keen get Bo working off his hocks. He tends to jump forwards rather than upwards....a result of me not jumping big enough classes with him unfortunately
shocked.gif

I offered her the ride on him x-country....but we'll have to wait to and see if she takes up the offer lol!

I expect we *might* take trikey too. It depends if we can be bothered to get up early lol! I'm rather looking forward to jumping classes that start after lunchtime again

Naww the boy is back! nice to hear you had a good session before your first competition back next weekend.
Good luck with that
smile.gif

Hey Karen! I want to hear how Solihull went too please
wink.gif

Vx

Hehe....I was VERY pleasantly surprised I have to admit
shocked.gif

As to the BE.....i'm blowing hot and cold on that one at the moment tbh. Last year I was thinking I would have a crack at an Intro or a PN this year...but since the tendon injury i'm tending towards sticking with SJ'ing lol!

Who knows...whatever will be, will be I guess

PMSL!

It sounds like you had fun anyway!
Good luck at Royal Leisure next weekend - 1.20??
smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Haha....NOPE !

I'm starting small with him as I don't want to risk his tendon and we both easily lose confidence when things go wrong
shocked.gif

Probably just do the 1m Am qualifier and the 1.05m Open for now. Main aim is to have him jumping sweetly (and competitively) in time for the Star qualifier at GC in mid Feb
