Flipping struts blew for the umpteenth time today - fortunately an extremely helpful guy spotted i had an issue and came to my aid. Without 2 struts I just can't lift the ramp.

Talking to my OH and we think when I had the rotten wood replaced the guy used a very thick bit of marine ply and we need to change that. Does anyone have aluminium & if so do you have any idea of type / thickness etc?

Would a simpler and cheaper solution be to swap for more heavy duty struts? The sort you get on big lorries rather than gas struts.
Not sure - what would I be googling to have a look?

I had a heavy marine ply ramp on my last 3.5t and replaced the struts, SGS are helpful

We took advice last time they sheared off and these long ones were recommended. What has actually happened is the bottom attachment (a metal rod) has completely snapped. Heavy duty metal rod too so I just think the ramp is too heavy.

Do you have rubber on there? Swapped mine for the carpet stuff with the cross grip bars and it was so much lighter.

Sorry, not your question I know but might be easier/cheaper.
