Hi All,

My friend and I are interested in going on a ranching holiday in the USA or Canada.

Have any of you been and can you help us to sift the huge number on offer, or to warn us about possible problems? Any previous experience, good or bad, or recommendations, would be brilliant.

We're middle aged, single women, and are both riders. I have my own horses and start youngsters so a bit more experienced but it seems the ranches cater for all abilities.

Any tips?? Thank you.

It's many years since I used them, but American Roundup were great. Friend and I (like you, own horses both riders) went to a ranch in the Caribou Mountains, just East of Vancouver.

It was THE best holiday I've ever been on and exactly what it said on the tin! Log cabins with log burners, riding into the mountains for 6 hours a day on great horses with amazing scenery. Would go again in a heart beat.

If you look on their site http://www.americanroundup.com and click on Ranch Type on the top menu bar, look at both Guest Ranches and Working Ranches for the type of holiday you're after ...
