I'm feeling like a bit of a numpty rider! :-/

My dads little TB has turned into a crazy pony since the new boy arrived - not sure if it's coincidence or if he's just trying to show off because it's the first time he's been the boss in the field! Anyway, he's feeling good and on his toes!

So we went show jumping yesterday, he was being a bit silly but nothing out of the ordinary. Was coming into a fence in the warm up and I'm not even sure what happened! He was bouncing around a bit and then the next minute I was on the floor! He think he leapt forward and yanked his head down from in my face - but really doesn't feel like a situation where I should have fallen off??!

I've been cantering down the long side of the school once on my mum's horse (plod) and ended up on the floor. Just think I wasn't paying attention.

I remember being halted in the middle of the school at the riding school I used to ride at, watching another in the class canter round. We were all pretty experienced riders by this point and she was riding one of the most push button rides in the place. Cantering up the longside she just...fell off. No rhyme nor reason. Even she couldn't explain it, and neither could the instructor.

When my youngster was going through his tricky stage I remember sitting some wicked bucks, then I fell off at the most innocent little bunny hop.

These things happen!

I was in a jumping lesson a couple of years ago and we'd warmed up practicing lengthening and shortening the canter, I was on a fairly exhausting RS horse so my legs were somewhat jelly-like when it came to jumping. I popped into canter and the horse did a beautiful jump, the second part of which I watched while lying on the floor! I have no idea what happened but I think I just forgot to stay on :o My instructor said "what are you doing down there??!" and the poor horse looked like he was thinking the same ;)

It's good to hear that I'm not the only one who has muppet moments like that!!

I have fallen off in HALT before :o

And no, wasn't impaired in any way shape or form! LOL. It just so happens that I was chatting to someone standing in the corner....with horse on loose rein, (well arguing the finer points of a WT test I was practicing on my welsh cob, who was in fact, too wide to fall off on most occasions). A piece of paper fluttered at the far end of the arena, mare excited stage left and I suddenly star fished thru the air and somehow landed on my feet. The girl I was standing talking to had her nose buried in the test so missed the whole thing, but wondered why I'd dismounted. I assured her it was purely an unscheduled dismount....

More recently I was starfished another time - trotting a 20m circle and horse feeling rather jolly put in a cracking buck and I sailed over his shoulder and again, landed on my feet. Startled the horse too when I suddenly appeared in front of his face...

I have fallen off in HALT before.

Ha ha, me too! Was a windy day at a BE event years ago - youngish ned at the time, we came down centre line and halted to salute but he then took massive exception at the windy trees nearby - leapt sideways leaving me sitting at G and galloped out of the ring back to my mum in the warm up! They did let me complete thankfully, the dressage judge fought my case and said I had saluted so had finished the test (since if you leave the arena "uncontrolled" during the test then your eliminated). We got highly placed that day too somehow! he he.

I can remember 2 other falls I've had jumping at home, both times I jumped perfectly fine then ended up on the deck a few strides later not knowing why.

I've fallen off at an immobile halt before ;)
Taking Calvin clear round jumping at the start of the year I managed to fall off between jumps as he changed direction very very slightly :o

I was a bit sleepy one board one Eagle Canyon, walking up towards his pals, he suddenly decided he needed to canter up to them, I fell off backwards, never got over that one.!
The first one was Redskin, I used to bring him back from field bareback obviously cantered up a little track, every day we went on the right hand path, one day he went left!!!

I was trotting across a field once on a four old having its first big hack out on its own I was just thinking how well it was all going when she saw a large fresh glistening cow pat and stopped dead and I went straight over her head and landed well you can guess where I landed

I fell off walking down a hill once, np idea what happened, I just looked up to see two horses looking down at my and the friend I was hacking out with laughing her head off!
