Random fashion question.......

Why do people wear their socks over their breeches? Is there a practical reason or is it just down to fashion?

I did try it yesterday but felt very self conscious with my stripy socks on show!

I find it more comfortable with my socks over my breeches. I definitely don't do it for fashion

I do it because the velcro was rubbish of the left leg of my breeches so we unpicked it with the intention of putting new stuff on and never got around to it so with my socks underneath the breeches always end up getting caught in my boots zip when I'm in a rush/stressing!!

I find it more comfortable as well, and it does make zipping up boots easier. Have never thought of it as a fashion statement.

I wear them because its comfier and makes it easier to zip my chaps up, although at my old yard we did try to 'out-sock' each other and see who could find the best craziest riding socks and wear them But i dont think its a fashion thing for me, just comfier

I find it more comfortable - I did feel a bit self consious in Sainsburys tho when I forgot and was wandering round with sunglass needing bight, knee length stripey socks
