Which trailer would you buy and why?

Always take off completely, as the girth should be done up evenly, one hole on either side at a time. This prevents twisting of the tree and flocking.

I hate it when I see people who have the girth done up on hole 5 on one side, then have to winch the other side up to 3, then again to 5.

Always take it off completely cause I find if I leave it done up on one side, it's usually going to be on too high a hole to be able to do up straight away anyway. And to stop the girth straps/saddle flaps curling.
I also have a suede seat, and if I leave the girth attached and folded over the saddle, anyway dirt on the girth transfers itself onto the seat and is a beggar to get off!

Sling it!

Always off completely - slinging it is a sure-fire way to ruin your girth straps and cause the leather to crack/weaken at the holes meaning you have to have them replaced more often. I don't like to spend money for the sake of it so always take the girth off totally.

I always remove my girth completely - I never used to, I just started doing it. I think it was when I changed from a cotton girth the a leather girth tbh. I do it whether it's a long or short girth.

Take the girth and saddle cloth off each time. Easier to tack up with everything off on a stressy mare, and saddle cover won't fit on over the girth (one of those erganomic (sp) ones)

Loosen two holes on the off side (or ease of popping back on & to prevent the curling), then sling over.

If at all sweaty remove numnah adn leave that upside down on top to air.

I have a long girth and I always remove it completely, just because I think you should and I prefer it this way.
Last week at camp it was tipping it down and I didn't want my saddle to get wet when I was taking it off so I quickly flung it over and when I came back to it a few hours later the saddle flap was curled.

AAARGH, I clicked the wrong one!!

I clicked sling it across the saddle, I meant to click take it off!!

I normally take it off completely then sling it on top of the saddle........

Always remove mine completely, seem to remember someone saying that is damages the girth straps otherwise, not sure if that is true though.....

Off off off! Its my pet hate! It ruins the girth straps and saddle flaps, also you you run the risk of getting a muddy/sandy seat!

i sling it over the saddle - i'm genuinely really surprised at the number of people who answered that they removed the girth - must be a lot of people on here with short girth saddles!

A's girth is 48" stubben string girth and I still take it off

PF's is indeed a short girth

I remove the girth but only because I take the saddle cloth off to dry it out (sweaty) I need to undo the girth to get it off.

Do you wash your saddle cloth every time you ride, or just take it off so it can dry out? If mine is really damp, I flip it out and forwards so it's hanging in front of the saddle (our saddles sit on a single pole, so I can sit it facing away from the wall)
