I was jumping in a lesson last Saturday and somehow managed to crash the outside of the bottom of my thumb down on my horse's neck. I ouched, went round to do the fence again - and did exactly the same thing!
I had to stop riding as it was already swelling and by Sunday, my whole hand looked like an inflated rubber glove, with bruising all the way up my wrist, on the back of my hand and on both thumb joints. That's now gone down but the inside of the thumb joint is still painful if I try to do some things; I can't lift anything big in that hand or lock my front door, etc.
I rode on the flat on Thursday and it was ok but ached afterwards then, as people at work nagged me, went to the walk-in centre yesterday. I've been X-rayed and it's not broken but it's still swollen on the joint and is now aching again! Has anyone else had anything like this - or am I the only numpty?!
Ps, the doctor told me to rest it. I said: "Does that include going to a show this evening?" She wasn't impressed
