If it's so dangerous to have the little tab on the end of a stirrup bar flipped up...why is it there??

Don't know but a lot of the new saddles don't have them, my devoucoux doesn't and a synthetic thorowgood I have for the pony doesn't, the bars are just slightly curved.

It's there so the leathers don't come of when the saddle is in transit as it were.

So basically they don't fally of when you are carrying your saddle about or it's in the lorry/car etc.

Personally think they do naff all in reality as I have never yet had a saddle where the leathers slid on and off over the bar anyway.

I ahve always wondered that, every time I fall off pickle my stirrup leather seems to come off! allthough thats a good thing.

I think its there from before they decided its dangerous!- like someone said above, most new saddles dont have it!
I got stirrup hooked on pony once- only saved from getting a broken ankle by my stirrup coming off!

Hollyjz, I have pm'd you about your stud girths!
