Hey All,

after much debating with myself ive decided to take the big lad to our first show, its only a small local show, the only class that is available to us tho is the clear round jumping because its actually a coloured show but any horse coloured or non-coloured can do the clear round jumping.

during the week we were out schooling and i took a very unexpected fall, i can safely say its the worst and sorest fall ive had which seems to have knocked my confidence in jumping a bit.

I was gutted because i didn’t think id be fit enough to do the wee comp but yesterday something in my leg clicked back into place and its not half as bad as it was so ive decided that im still going to go to the show.

My question however is quite silly but, what exactly does clear round jumping entail, is it simply just show jumping but you must go clear?

One chance (per payment) to go round a course of jumps with no stops or poles down.... or circles etc

It is a fun class - you pay per round, and if you go clear you get a rossette! You can go as many times as you want and it sounds perfect for you. There is usually no time limit so you can pull up between fences if you like.
 
It is a small course of jumps, you can request the height. You don't get eliminated for refusals, run out's falls etc so can almost use it as a schooling round. I don't think they use fillers. If you go clear with no faults you will get a rosette with 'clear round' or similar on it.

This is what they are like in my area but I think different shows will run them slightly differently.
 
If there is a minimus class, you can adjust the jump heights to what you want. We've been round with the poles on the ground just to get neds used to being in a ring and going between lots of wings, etc.
 
Mrs M, that sounds like a brilliant idea! I was wondering how to make the leap to jumping at a comp with the spooky pony when the time comes (a long time hence, I'm afraid...). So if I understand correctly, you could enter the same pony twice, and for instance go round the first time with poles on the ground, and the second time with small jumps?
 
Yep that's right, you can go round as many times as you like altering the height each time or keeping them the same if you wish.

Yup, go round as many times as you pay for (usually £1.50 or £2.00 a go)

The local RC has a show on a Sunday, then on the following Wednesday evening for £5 you can use the whole site - show jump rings, working hunter course, dressage arena. Is great fun

Brilliant! Our yard is having a fun show in July with a Clear Round, and it sounds like just the ticket to get us started! My pony is a giant chicken, and really wants a good look at everything before he's willing to pop over. You can't really do that in a real jumping class!
