I am so cross with magazines/websites etc at the moment! I have been advertising my foals (and various other horses) recently, and wanted to shop around and find the best adverts/advertisers.

Well, I started with H&H - they get the horse in the wrong section. I complained and they offered to re-run the ad half price. I eventually got them to re-run the ad free of charge, but what a palava!

Then I tried Horsedeals - The woman was very helpful, helped me word the adverts, choose the pictures etc - I thought what excellent service! Then The ads get published and half the info is wrong (age, height etc). Luckily the one ad that was right, the horse sold within 24hrs so at least people read the ads! I phoned and emailed the lady I had dealt with, but no answer. Left messages, no answer. Complained to HD, no reply. I had given up, then got a call out of the blue yesterday - did I want to advertise with them for another month?!? When I asked why they hadn't replied to any of my messages, they said it was not their policy to "bother" advertisers during the period their adverts were live in case they got in the way of potential clients calling - WTF?!? Anyway, when I moaned about the info being wrong she said "oh that sometimes happens" No apology! Then asked if I would advertise again next month (the remaining horse that didn't sell) She said she would give me a discount, then proceeded to tell me the exact same price as it cost last month. I told her that was not discounted and she said it is normally twice the price. Argh! I told them where to stick it!

Then I decided to advertise the remaining foal with horsequest. Again, very helpful, lovely person on the phone, and ad went live almost straight away. The trouble is, they have used the wrong picture as the main picture, and failed to put the extended pedigree down. I emailed them to correct this, and have tried to call them, but so far no answer and no change to the ad.

It seems that once these people have your money they don't care about customer service any more! Argh!!

Sorry for rant just getting wound up!

huh, and then we wonder why this country is in such a mess.

P*ss up and brewery spring to mind. But there you go, if you want something doing properly, do it yourself. Thats very poor customer service indeed. Forget trying to get any sense out of the numpties on the phone, by-pass them and go straight to the head honcho and make his / her life a misery - then you might get some action. Good luck

I think you're best off using Horsemart as YOU do the ad yourself and can amend it, update it, choose which pic you want as the main picture etc. We advertised our horsebox on HM and it sold within 2 weeks.

Simple!

We see horse ads in our local saturday paper and the amount of errors is unbelievable - spelling errors, horse terminology. It's appalling. Always best to do the ad yourself IMO.

HD... tell me about it... you have my deepest sympathies!!

I am afraid h&h customers services has gone down hill over the last couple of years as well...

*leaves thread before she has a rant of her own*

Just use Horsemart, you put the add on yourself upload your own photos, its cheap about £15 and goes straight on line!

The last horse i sold, i had just put the advert on came down stairs phone rang, tried the next day, vetted the next sold and gone the following!

I've just updated my ads with Horsequest after the Futurity, and within half an hour all changes are made and spot on. Perhaps you are just unlucky????!!!!!
