RANT ...loaners

ARRRGGGGG, i put my mare out on loan, mare can be a madam so girl had on trial with me for a month. during the time girl has a brat fit, over a saddle (see previous posts) decides she doesnt want the horse. then she does. ok no worries.

horse finally goes to loan home. been there a week, couple of things i wasnt happy with (metal thing in stable i asked to be covered up and hadnt been) and she bought a wintec, dispite her telling me i didnt want one put on my horse, and would buy a cheap second hand saddle.

minor things i think.

girl is moaning that she cant get horse to canter, and that people are tellinh her somethings wrong, she rings and says she has somebody riding the mare for a second opinion. NO i say i will go and see her.,

go and ride the mare, rein back to canter, halt to canter, flying change. no problems. mare asusal to me feels forward, gentle suggest girl gets lessons.

girl has now had a hissy fit, cant be bothered to out the timne in. ive told her fine i need it in writting as per the agreement and by the end of the months notice i shall remove the horse.

am totally not chuffed! i cant have the mare back at the moment, so im left with selling her, which im really annoyed about as chances are she will need to go to a dealer. as again i cant have her home for viewings etc. im not worried about her going for a small amount of money but want her to find a good home.

any body want a jumping horse??? rant over am going to take my annoyance out on poo picking!
 
Send her on loan to me!!!!! I have a madam of a mare ATM who is going back when loan ends in two weeks (she needs to be retired to gentle hacking cos of creakiness and is having babies!)....

Seriously though, they sound like nightmares. I found it so hard to get decent loaners for my boy. I had more calls than I could respond to but to actually find someone I would trust was a mission.

ive just had the oddest text asking for her vets details! now why would you want that?

if i want her to keep her for a month with no passort i cnt register her with a new one if any thing happens.. what the hell is that about!

im just off out but will give her a call.. oddest thing ive heard for a long time
 
I don't know if you'd be able to give me some details of her - as I may know of somewhere.
What height, age, is she? What sort of jumping can she do?
Is she sound and well?
 
shes sound and well, shes 16hh id x tb, jumped dicovery etc. can easiley go higher.

lovely mare, can be moody and kick out etc but not aimed at you, and a telling off and shes stops, most of the time is a pussy cat, my novice hubby rides and handles her with no issues!
 
I thinks he sounds lovely.. Shame about the rubbish loaners though...I would have her send her to me, hoenstly!!
Sounds like my old mare just has her moments! never liked having her belly brushed and had the most bendy legs you could imagine she would try her hardest to get you from wherever you stand! I think you are right to tell the girl to get lessons the problem obviously is with her and not your mare...

My sister lives in Exeter and a friend of hers contacted me regarding my horse for loan ... she wanted something she start eventing on .... my horse not suitable (she'd got her wires crossed) feels a bit odd to give out her email address ... so i'll email this thread over to her and hopefully she'll get to you
 
I am putting my mare on loan/share/part-loan for hacking and dressage, maybe show jumping. I've been eventing her but she doesn't enjoy xc and i'm getting a new event horse. I do want her to stay on my yard though (East Sussex). If anyone knows anyone please PM me!!

One of my land contractors is looking for a loan horse for his daughter to do general riding club stuff to be kept at my livery yard. She needs something 16hh plus. She will have regular lessons from Chris Dannan(dressage) and Andrew Lovell (jumping). She has had horses for years but the last horse she had on loan went back as it was permanently lame. And she has been looking for a loan horse for several months. If it is of interest let me know your details and I will put the two in touch. We are only in Okehampton so close enough for her to come and see you soon.
 
Knowing the mare personally I can honestly say it's such a blimmin shame that she hasn't found the right home. She' s such a stunner and would be sucessful in the right hands.
After all the loaner said about having difficulty cantering her -for god's sake. I am a nervous, novicey rider with little style and even I hopped on her in the sand school and got a canter out of her!

bosworth, andrew lovell is my trainer, he knows the mare well, please feel free to use him as a reference for myself and the horse (janine and snapper)
 
I am speaking to Andrew tomorrow so will see what he thinks as he knows the contractors daughter and your horse so he will know if it is suitable for Sophie. you never know it might be a fantastic solution for you both.

she is a wonderful horse, the loaner, i think is to much of a pny rider if you know what i meen,. constantly nag nag nag, snaps switches off. her going is the last thing in the worl that i want, i love her to bits, but i do need to think about the future, shes coming back this sunday and is going to a friends, so i have a month so re home her;.
