Went to get horses in and girl on yard has a tendancy to herd the horses in in the field next to ours so we try to avoid going when she is bringing the horses in. Failed today big style! thought she was in the stable so went to get the boys in, well they came in alright - both of them racing round the field fly bucking

then just as I thought it couldn't get any worse Pidge slips over in the mud

so his leg is now worse than this morning and after having spoken to the vet have upped his bute

Why does she herd them?
If I were you I would have a word with her - It could get dangerous - Ask her if she has good insurance if someone gets trampled by excited horses...

in the field next to ours, its a big long field about8 acres. she has a habit of screeching at them and herding them to the top gate

have had a word with her tonight - kept my cool with her just - said they just galloped up when she got near to them

and she seemed very sheepish so hopefully her conscience will play on her!

We used to have a 10 acre field and mine and my mum's horse fell inlvoe and when my mum's mare was in season there was nothing me could do. In the end I would catch every other horse (or try to) and then stand for ages with a bucket full of the stones (sounded like food and was nice and loud!!)

I once or twice made the mistake of herding them and even my very well behaved gelding narrowly missed me a few times in the melle.
I know where the other lady is coming from but she should be careful.

I know couldn'tbelieve it when both him and Sunny were fly bucking in the field, especially when they skimmed past me on several occsasions

he's obviously feeling far far too well

unlike your situation the horses here are easy to catch, she just can't be bothered to lead them up the field, no sure why when she has to walk down to herd them up anyway! hey ho happy days!

Crikey - in that case she really shouldn't! In fact she could end up teaching them to run away from her and not be caught!!
Lets hope your chat with her has done the trick!

well I hope so, think she felt bad about putting Pidge back in his recovery so hopefully next time she may well think before doing it
