OK so we share the hayledge cost at the yard - £30 per delivery. I pay by cheque. Last month the hayledge was delivered whilst I was working (am currently working 15-16 hour days by the way, not at the yard Mon - Fri, so not atthe yard) and I missed the payment. Anyway, I sent the cheque but it must have been delayed in the post with all the strikes and everything as it has not arrived. Anyway....they booked a new delivery for today (again I am not a at the yard to give cash) and I spoke to the person that organises delivery at lunchtime to say I will be up late tomorrow night to drop cash off. They told me my cheque had not arrived to which I replied thats fine, when it does rip old cheque up and I will pay double this month. All is fine.

Now here is the bit that has wound me up a treat. There is a livery who I am always pleasant too but never talks to me (apparently this is normal) She is actually rude but I always smile and say hello to her. Anyway, today when my horse was being fed by my friend she turned around and accross the barn and infront of other liveries and said "Oh he shouldn't be having that as she never pays for it"

Grrrr. I pay everything....my livery, bills, feedbill, on time. This one instance and I am being labelled a non payer? And it is nothing to do with her. Thankfully the person feeding my horse ignored and fed anyway....

How dare she?

Seeing as she never talks to me, how do you suggest I deal with it. I thought about leaving her a note saying something like "If you have a concern about me using something you think I have not paid for please contact me direct on my mobile number?" However it is none of her business so why should I explain myself?

i think i'd walk straight up to her and say, preferably with witnesses, "i hear you've been badmouthing me behind my back. if you've got something nasty to say about me, please at least have the guts to say it to my face."
i favour the direct approach, myself.

if she isn't struck dumb, and unable to think of anything, i'll be amazed...
let us know how it goes...

I'd maybe take her to one side and ask what she was on about and why she felt the need to bad mouth you when you werent there in a situation she clearly knows nothing about!

Would def do it face to face though rather than by note!

Actually I think I would be more cross with the person who told her you hadn't paid! I can't see any reason why the liveries would need to know that and sounds like someone is trying to stir things for you

Poor bird...ignore it...so petty, there's always bitching on yards and so i find ignoreing it is the best way, even tho it's really unfair. Don't let it get to you as the whole point of having a horse is to enjoy it, not get caught in stupid crap that can mar that enjoyment! Sod 'em!!XX
