Sorry, bit of a rant about my adventures this evening, funny story but very annoying at the same time!

Im Just back from bringing the dog for a walk down the fields, I haven't been down there since last week and everywhere was really, really wet!

we followed our usual path down an old lane way and arrived at the gateway into the fields. This gateway is always a pain with the muddy water usually half way up your wellies and thats on a good day!. I waded in to open the latch and noticed the water was a bit higher than normal, up to about the strap of my wellies. I quickly opened the gate and went to move on through when I suddenly got a cold sensation in my foot, looked down to see my wellies had sunk right to the top in the muddy water  .

I pulled one foot up but the other now went into the mud and I ended up with both wellies filled with muddy water  I trudged on through and emptied as much as I could and continued on the walk with silly slurping noises coming from my boots.

What makes it worse is that I need my wellies for collage tomorrow, Im going on a field trip to collect river samples and they are soaked!. I always seem to find the water that bit deeper than my wellies. In future I might just invest in another pair and wear one pair while the other pair dry out.

Anyway rant over :D that made me feel a bit better! Tell me Im not the only one this happens to on a regular basis!

Lol. I've got a damaged foot and have 'special shoes' to help it heal. Basically jodphur boot height so muddy puddles are a non starter at moment lol enjoy ur field trip.

Thanks, just getting ready to head off now, really looking forward to putting my feet into cold wet wellies and spending the day walking round in them! :(

On the plus side the sun is out!!!! :)

Put plastic bags inside your wellies, it might feel a bit horrible but you will be dry!

yes, I was going to suggest this ^^^ :)

back when I was still trying to give Hunter the benefit of the doubt, ( I persevered with them, but I went through a phase when every pair of Hunter wellies I had would split after a few weeks)

I still had to do the horses every day, but I was only able to go into town to get replacement wellies at the weekends - so I bought a pair of sealskinz waterproof socks - Just to wear with my Hunter wellies in anticipation of them splitting :o:D

I'm over all that now - I wear Aigles ;)

Haha that did make me chuckle...sorry! :p
I feel your pain though...I VERY nearly fell over in really thick sloppy mud today turning the horses out. The ground by the gate is so muddy and churned up your foot sinks right into it and if you're not careful your foot comes out leaving the boot left in the mud!

Thanks for the ideas guys! really like the idea of waterproof socks! I didn't know such things existed! I may well try the plastic bag trick for now.

Just back from fieldwork and the streams were knee deep in places, with all the rain lately, my wellies are well and truly washed (both inside and out! :( ).

I have a slightly different problem, my wellies always seem a little too short for the depth of water I am walking through!
