I had a shettie, bought a cart and harness and learn to drive book, put it all together , backstepped for some one, sold my riding pony, got Pip and was away!
Backstepping is good, as you are part of the action, and see if you like it with no financial commitment.
They showed you at the beginning of the marathon- not even in obstacles, so nothing to worry about !
OH and I do HDT with our boy but we've only done grassroots and one club level event so far (came first at first grassroots one and 2nd in his first club level one
Ashfields is just a club event, but I did both Ashfields last year, Coming 2nd both times in PN, This years first ashfields, the 2nd is this w/e and Dad is taking the 4. Didnt get placed at the first ashfields this year (novice), 3rd at Euston park (N), and 4th Sandringham (N). Elim, un-Eliminated and retired Blandings! I have done 2 pretty full indoor seasons too, and Dad only started competing this year, bit ashfields will be his 9th event!
We're planning on doing an indoors soon, too. This sport is so addictive! Just bought a new carriage, too (a B2) to replace our polish "tank"
Thought it was funny they had Gary Dockings presenting a programme on driving trials- maybe to show it from more of an outsider's perspective?? (albeit obviously one with a lot of driving knowledge).
