Posting this for a friend.
Her horse first showed signs of a small rash on her face around about a week ago, it has slowly gotten worse and we have no idea what it is, it has been hibi scrubbed the first few days and then left to see what happened with it (incase it was irritation)
does anyone have any idea?
this is today

this is two days ago

Forgot to say, i suggested vet when it first showed up but friend wanted to wait as other liveries told her it was sunburn...... now that its getting worse she is asking if anyone knows but is planning on getting the vet if no improvement by the weekend

It's Ringworm

You need to wash horse from top to toe with Nizoral shampoo. Dilute with hand hot water, later up well and leave to dry. You may need to redo in a few days.

Nizoral can be bought at the chemist. It's a human shampoo which is great, because after you've treated the horse you will need to shower yourself and wash your hair with it. Ringworm is one disease that animals can give to humans. It is fungal which is why the patches are round as the fungus ejects spores outwards.

Soak clothes you have been wearing in a solution of Nizoral. You will also need to wash grooming kit, saddle blankets, tack, lining of rugs.

Definitely looks like ring worm. As above you need to shampoo horse and clean absolutely everything that comes into contact with horse on a continual basis until gone.
