Its lucky I don't put much stock into how my horse looks and rather into the fact he's comfortable and happy

I have to add though he's half TB

his father was a racehorse!!!

oh better in the daylight but have managed a half decent job with flourescents.

It would take a hell of a lot of rain to get his welsh ear fluff wet through and I would find heads far too much of a fiddle.

I am sure that your boy IS comfortable and happy but you DID say that you had, eventually, clipped out his head and ears after a comment made by one of your friends. What I meant was he is not a FULL TB. Who are usually thin-skinned, with no coat to speak of and ALWAYS chilly. Hence "a blanket clip" helps to keep their loins warm.

I never said I clipped his ears out!

clip his ears indeed. He needs the fur for echo locating his dinner!

CC, one thing you will learn as you use this forum more is there are people not to take seriously.

I am one of those people, his father was not a racehorse, lol sorry I get used to everyone knowing my sense of humour here

Thank you - but I did think I was being helpful - I thought he was a TB Part-Bred. However, hairy ears DO get cold when wet. Not used to these sort of discussions but I am learinng - very slowly as I am an old (and old-fashioned girlie)!! Best regards anyway.

Lol!

I always leave half a head on. I think if the horse is going to spend much time out in the winter then it's only fair. Same goes for legs.

Star's ears don't get sweaty, just the patch behind them and that is clipped anyway. She always gets a headrub with her towel after untacking anyway.

Regards the saddle patch, no I don't think there is really any need for them these days, but a lot of people still want it left.

Yep my TB mare has a half head clip too as she suffers from a sweaty chin when hacking in the winter and has rather a lot of unladylike hair

I leave her ears well alone - I like my life!

Kitsune - nice try for a first go, I'm impressed!

LOL yes it is a major plus point that the horse still lives!

but shuuuush don't tell Mr M or he'll get jelous.

its not, and clippersharp phoned me to tell me my clippers will be back with me from servicing tommorrow, I feel a road trip coming on

Thank you

Well at least you can get yours clipped lol, I can't even get a pair of clippers near Mr M apart from my baby wahls AA battery operated things!...yeah I know lol and even then you'd think you were trying to murder him.

I leave my ned's head on with a hunter clip. He tolerates having his body clipped but no way could I do his head without sedation - it's taken me 2 years to be able to groom round his ears!

So a hairy head it is, hasn't killed him yet and doesn't look too bad either.

I've got wonky eyes nd even i can see that your square is not a square ,
laugh.gif
my clipping is so awful that it all comes off, ears nd all but that involves a twitch and lots of threatening, Ed's a lovely looking boy by the way
