I am now a rather bored and frustrated young lady! Last Friday I was having a lesson on my sisters youngster who decided to have a buck when asked to canter, I came off and now, after spending 6 days in hospital have 6 weeks off work as I have fractured and compressed 2 vertebre in my spine and chipped one of them! Not impressed! Anyone been in a similar situation? And how long before u were able to get back on?

massive sympathy - i fell off sunday and now in cast from toe to knee. This time i actually physically cant ride - when i broke toes and collar bone ive always ridden through it! maybe it didnt help though!!

ooh for 6 weeks off!!!! inside in the warm and daytime telly!!! tho sorry to hear of your accident hope its not too painful and you got good drugs! chance to catch up on letter writing, phone calls, mucking out the cupboards and drawers (if you can bend!)

Aw poor you, i was in hospital for 2 weeks after fall so know whats it like. Broke my leg and needed op. Hope everyone is looking after you well and you can get comfortable enough to rest. I bet everyone is telling you their broken bone and horse fall stories, I'd never realised how dangerous riding was until I spent some time in A & E. Take care and wishing you a speedy recovery, hope you will be home in time for Xmas x

Sorry to hear about your accident, you often think nasty accidents are less likely in the school too. Hope your not too uncomfortable, I have no experience of this injury but I hope you recover well and quickly

sleeping in a leg cast is really hard work esp when i normally sleep on my front - any tips?

Oh yes, hang the sticky up toe part of the cast off the bed. But sleep at an angle across the bed else the whole leg can fall out!! I did this and knocked the electric socket off the wall and had to be saved as wedged between the wall and bed

I used to put a soft pillow between my knees and very slowly move almost onto my side, couldn't roll the whole way as had brace on my leg. this way was better than sleeping on my back all the time which gave me pins and needles in my hands, weird! The first time i lay on my front was during a physio session (bending knee upwards) and it was such a relief to be comfy again, made my leg feel better too, don't worry it won't be too long!
