Rats and Mice in my feed bins

shouldn't be able to - are the lids very close fitting and always left shut? Rats and mice can squeeze through the smallest gaps!

No they can not chew through metal bins. I used to put dry sugar beet down for the rats and mice in a bowl, after about 2 weeks we had no mice or rats. Think they filled their little tummy and errr.... you can guess, worked better than the poison we used!!

Oh dog, I'm gonna look really stupid here but that is so mean! Feed them so their stomachs rupture? Eurgh.... Why can't you just get lots of traps? Or a couple of feral cats?

no they can't shew through metal thats why ikeep my feed in metal bins. I would die if a rat was in my feed bin!! I have been known to lock myself in my car crying before just because i saw a mouse! im such a wimp lol

Not my yard and there are a lot of dogs so they couldn't have a cat and I can't really have a lot of traps as it would just get in the way, I don't have that much space :o

I'll get some metal bins and try to discourage them but I think I might have to sort it out :( I've had at least one dead one in my waterbucket most mornings and they are breaking into my feed bins and taking way too much of my feed and one jumped out when I opened my bin with the nuts in it this morning :(

my plastic feed bin has been chewed.. me thinks pesky rats then one day i saw ... a squirell the little basket must have a chainsaw !! what a mess bits of red plastic in the feed and a huge hole in it grrrrr...

Exactly why i'm asking, i've got nearly no feed left :D

And I don't think I can just get another dog, the YM does dog walking so she has a lot of dogs coming and going so she wouldn't be able to have another permanant one.
