Arhh, don't you just love it when your sorting out the new zealand rugs ready for the winter use (been stored since march) and you find 'presents'??
Iam talking the presents from Mrs Rat and her family...
And, no, I don't mean droppings....
All I wanted to was to remind myself of last winters damage Meg puts her rugs through, repair any repairables, and give the rugs an airing and a quick clean if needed. Its not much to ask... I honestly thought her rugs might just survive this winter, then aim for new ones next year.
Rug 1 = torn, but usable
Rug 2 = the newest one, doesn't fit fantastic but remarkabley only has a few scratches on
Rug 3 = torn beyond repair, so time to go (why I didn't do this in the spring I have no idea!)
Rug 4 = looking good, slightly small fit but handy when needs must
And then we HAD
Rug 5 = Looks ok, slightly torn on the chest by the buckles, but usable... oh, wait, WHAT IS THAT?? Arhh, the lining is torn damn.... NOPE, the lining is mainly missing, yep thats been chewed off..... hang on .... ewwww thats gross....
A DEAD MANGLED RAT CURLED UP IN THE RUG their tails freak me out!!
So, with a screwed up face that a gurker (? - the men that pull funny faces!?) would be proud of I carefully man handled it into a bin bag...still gives me the shivers...!
And on that note, quite by chance I went to a second hand equine table top sale and picked up a brand new MW rhinegold for £35.
Every cloud has a silver lining as they say.
Megs wardrobe is complete for another year - hopefully. And yep, I will make sure the rugs are safer nest spring/summer.... lol
