My 8 month old puppy is fed raw, but she has very low energy. must decreased from before, could you advise me on what is missing from her diet?

Thank you x

She gets as much as she wants as I struggle to keep weight on her. she's mostly fed chicken, wings or thighs or breasts. But regularly mince or salmon, tuna some other type of fish. Haven't been feeding for long so was going to add offal this week.

I would just make sure she is eating what she is meant to.

Is she feeling skinny? I under estimated my weight of my dogs and they lost weight as was feeding them too little.

I would introduce maybe some kidneys first and then a tiny tit bit size worth of liver.

I was underfeeding my fella at about the same age, my friend was about to come after me with a baseball bat :o :o he had a growth spurt I was thrown by the amount of hair, but when you actually felt up in he was very skinny.
Agree, tripe is a great conditioner, I got a great mix of tripe minced with whole chickens and fish, which helped build him back up.

Chicken leg meat and beef mince will add weight but I found that my two were skinny yard dogs til quite recently. It's only now at 20 months that they have suddenly become very solid muscly dogs. She may just be a skinny pup who burns off all her food.

OP.....is it just energy that your dog lacks? Or, does it lack condition too? These are IMO two separate issues. You can get some clues here though re energy: Performance Dog Nutrition: Optimize Performance with Nutrition by Dr Jocelynn Jacobs

If your dog is carrying good weight (almost too much weight) and still lacking energy I would be popping down the vets. Can you be a bit more specific about the energy levels? How much play/exercise/training does your pup get in a day?

PS Having just looked at the info you supplied on your raw diet, you (as you acknowledge) are not feeding any offal....this needs to be corrected. You also need to add raw eggs, including the shell. You also need to increase your protein sources, so not just chicken, but add lamb, beef and pork as a minimum. The more you introduce early in life, the less problems you have later on IME. I personally, would not bother with tuna, but would sub sardines in oil. I assume that none of the fish you mention is in brine or smoked?? If so, ditch it! Fruit and veg are optional extras to add bulk, but pulp them first. Also, what bone content is the pup getting for calcium?
