OKay bear with because this might be a long and waffley one
-We got our Golden Retriever puppy in May, at 10 weeks. He came home ,was fine for about 3 weeks or so then started throwing up/ getting diarrhea. During those 3 weeks we'd been switching him from Breeder's wainwright to James Wellbelove [now referred to as JW]. We messed about with the vets, going from JW to potato and chicken back onto the JW, still getting sick , switching from chicken JW to salmon [obviously giving time to adjust for each], still passing through in really sloppy diarrhea. Pup is getting v thin at this point.
--My mother [I'm still living at home] decided it was a faff+ expensive to keep buying and switching so for the past -- 2 months or so? He's been fed on mash, chicken and other meats that are left over, mixed with his kibbled -Arden Grange, which even that he can't have pure, so like a half natural diet. Poops returned to normal, no sick, put on weight and turned into a very lovely little dog.
--This morning, he was sick at 3am, then when I came down at 10:30 [I'm ill too, haha so he was let out,fed and put back into bed] there was diarrhea, dick and blood.- bright red not dark etc.
-Called vets, got appt, they came him antibiotics, anti sickness, prokolin and some kind of powder that makes him rehydrate. Now he's sleeping. going back in morning if stable, can return any point if not happy [vets fortunately is 5 min walk away, 1min drive. thank god for village life
]
-We're not sure what's provoked this; nothing's chewed etc and we're paranoid about letting him chew anything that could be sharp as in the past we've lost a puppy to peritonis and that was awful.. so seeing similar symptoms is horrible but i dont think it's that.
-Do any of you put puppies on RAW? And would it likely help him? as i said, the semi natural diet has helped but i don't know why he's suddeny crashed like that, do these things just come on? researching ,some seem to say it improves those with colitis tendencies others say it's worse, so all opinions/experiences appreciated.
Thanks!
