Im not comfortable to just tell folk what I feed mine because it may not be strictly correct in terms of balanced to the latter:p and ours actually get alot of tripe (and not many people seem to beable to stomach it, so wanna miss that part):p does anyone have an actual seven day plan/example of what they feed as a balanced raw diet for me to give to one person in particular who has asked me today?
Thankyou:)

Well I hope we are doing it right for Pip but we found the meaty pork ribs a bit pricey. We feed liver, mince, chicken wings, necks, carcasses, rabbit which has been frozen for a fortnight also heart. Does this sound like a balanced diet although she is not fat she is growing and when you pick her up she is solid. We also give her tinned sardines twice a week.

Thankyou:) is that the norm?

It's the norm for that person. Trouble is, raw feeding is hugely diverse. I use green gruel and chicken carcasses/mince as a staple plus sprats, beef chunks, pig trotters, lamb bones/breast added in plus offal. I could go on and on, it's endless, but I like huge variety, other people do tripe and chicken only.

Here's the whole thread: pass it on to the people and they can decide themselves what the want to feed. I don't do veg because I reckon it's not correct but others do. It's hugely diverse and very personal. Tell them to google DAF as a reliable supplier with variety.

If you have a look in the sticky up top I'm sure I did an example 'menu' of what I feed per meal and of how much variety but just in case I'll do another one. :p

Both mine are 24kg, give or take, and have two meals a day. Huskies are the good doers of the dog world and would generally have the lower end of the percentage if feeding by weight. Obviously they get a fair bit of exercise, you'd cut it down further for a sedentary dog.

A single meal could consist of any one of the following:
3 large chicken wings
2 chicken thighs
2 chicken drumsticks
1 smallish chicken carcass
300g ish of beef mince
2-3 pork ribs
1/2 a lamb breast
1 neck of lamb chunk
1-2 hearts (or 1/2 an ox heart)
300g ish of tripe
1/4 of a rabbit
Pheasant and duck in similar proportions to the chicken, only more inexpertly butchered :o
3/4 to one whole Prize Choice block
1 whole small fish, or 300g ish if sprats or whatever
300g Fish4Dogs if I've forgotten to defrost anything

I add the odd chunk of ox liver, maybe a palm sized piece once or twice a week, some of the fresh game they get has all the innards in as well. In addition a couple of times a week they get tinned fish in oil or salmon mousse, whenever I feel they need a bit extra, marrowbones 2-3 times a week and a couple of pigs' ears too. Every Sunday they get a bowl of cooked meat and fish ends/scraps/roast with cooked broccoli, swede, carrots and peas free from work. :o During the week if I have leftover cooked veg they get those too, and any spare eggs.

I don't fuss about balancing the diet every day or even every week, if I'm offered a glut of chicken carcasses then they eat chicken for days, the balance comes over weeks and months. It's mostly by eye, if they're getting skinny I add more, if the poo is truly rock hard then more meat, less bone. If they get too fat I have to run more. It honestly doesn't require that much work, a couple of times a week I grab a few random bags and packets out of the freezer to go in the fridge to defrost, so long as I buy in a variety it's all good.

Thankyou BC and CT, I have a good amoutn to go on there, I must say we don't follow to the latter, it's whats in go's:D but would prefer i was giving the right info for other dogs.

Being a newbie to this I do think we have been a bit precious, daughters boyfriend came back from the butchers the other day and it took the pair of us an hour and half to cut it up and bag into separate meals. I think the fact Pip is small does make it more difficult because she dosnt eat that much and wanting to provide variety is probabley why it took so long to bag it up. But we came to the conclusion that life was too short to be arsing around and if this was the norm she would be soon back on kibble.

I was very precious to start with. Fortunately, because the brothers were so young, they took to it really easily and will eat anything. I'm less bothered these days and because there's three of them, I can get loads out and not worry about having too much.

I know some people package up individual meals with veg and supplements, but I don't.

I know there is some debate about feeding veg as they say dogs cant digest it but I occasionaly grate some carrots. Ive never noticed it come out the other end indigested. I wouldnt want to give her our cooked veggies due to the salt content. I have noticed her eating grass not to be sick with but wondered if it was to satisfy a need for some veggie matter.

Blended will be processed. Frozen carrots are excellent for teething pups (or frozen chicken wings).

Veg is a personal decision, there's no right or wrong. My lot get ends of carrots and everything else thats safe when we're cooking, I just don't build it in to their actual meals.

Dobiegirl, when I first started feeding raw (about 2 1/2 years ago) I used to cut & bag into individual meals, it took forever & used loads of plastic bags!

As you get used to it you'll find there will be no need to continue doing that. I now just defrost how it is packaged & leave in the fridge/cool room until i'm ready to feed it, sometimes feeding a big meal one day followed by a small meal or no meal the next (eg a whole pig's head for the lab). For example when feeding the border terrier pup I'll defrost a whole tray (from the supermarket) of chicken wings or drumsticks & keep this in the fridge grabbing one piece at a time for meals (was cutting in half to start with). If it starts to get a bit ripe bag the whole tray, the dogs don't care! The only thing I separate out now is fish as once frozen they are almost impossible to separate.
