I would like to transition my ex racing greyhound to raw but worry his protein intake would be too high or that he would drop weight. He’s rather slim and a bit neurotic but what goes in the mouth comes out the other end so it seems a bit of a waste. Any advice or experience with the breed gratefully received.

Yep I fed all 4 of mygreyhounds raw for quite a while - sadly it got prohibitively expensive to feed 100kg plus combined weight of dogs on raw 😞

They all absolutely thrived on it - I’ll try and find the pics of them with their mega shiny coats - even my 45kg boy who came off the track very thin and poor. He put weight on and his coat massively improved, I did feed him a LOT mind you 🤣

Thinking back I dont recall any issues with any of them fed this way, they went onto the diet really easily and loved it - all food gone in 29 seconds 😊

I’d say go for it for sure, I would raw feed my current dogs but Flora is a fussy little madam who will only eat one brand of minced tripe, so not a balanced diet 🤦‍♀️

Mine are whippets but the biggest is small greyhound size, they look good on the best grain free dry food, they look amazing on raw food. They get 3 to 4 percent though and are slim and fit on that.

Don’t believe the myth that you can’t mix raw and kibble.
My sighthounds are all on raw, one tends to drop weight on raw only. If I make 10-15% of his diet kibble he maintains weight perfectly.
