Good idea or not?

We usually get a couple of brace at the end of the day which I usually breast. I was wondering if the other bits such as necks etc I could feed to my dog, I mean I know I can but don’t want him munching a pheasant on his way back ? (would freeze etc first and part of a balanced diet)

I was thinking if there’s no feathers it would be ok? Anyone else do this?

I can't see why it would be an issue, I think the only part of a pheasant that wouldn't be particularly useful would be the intestines.

Our dogs have no problems crunching up breasted carcasses with the feathers on, though the old girl won't eat the feathers and will quite often pluck birds.

Not gundogs but on a similar theme we feed lamb (full or part of especially at lambing time) to sheepdogs without work issues relating to it (assuming that’s what you meant).

My lot used to get a lot of birds, either from the yo disposing of pigeons (before the new law) or a mate who had shooting pals, once got 20 brace of various birds. I used to pluck and remove heads/intestines.

In terms of the ‘insides’ did you feed any of it? I gutted some the other day for human consumption but wasn’t sure if the dogs could have the heart and liver etc

I get heart and offal from the supermarket and whole body mince from various suppliers.

Liver, heart and lungs they can have. Always throw intestine, stomach, bladder etc.

What she says ^^ although when they had whole bunnies (jacket on) I literally chopped them in half and they ate everything. I wasn’t too keen to fiddle through in case I came across babies ?
