Raw food - more expensive than kibble?

ForbiddenHorse there is a group on FB called 'Giving up the Game' which is a good way to move on excess birds.
A friend feeds her spaniel whole carcass raw and he picks up and beats with no issues. Some people do say it can lead to them eating retrieves. I don't know, I have never tried it.

Oh interesting, thank you. OH is a game keeper so will pass that on. We struggled to find people who wanted the birds last season.

Wonder if she freezes them first? Interesting, thank you.

She uses mainly chickens (she breeds them and feeds the cull birds) but in season pheasant and partridge. The dog is 17 and fit as a fiddle. Most things are frozen for storage sake but she feeds fresh too.

All of ours (except the lurcher-she is allergic to meat/fish) get a base diet of dry plus meat/fish, I add eggs and oil a couple of times a week. They get whole eggs including shells.
They also get any fresh meat/fish that comes our way.
If we catch trout they get heads and tails, during the shooting seasons they get any shot game we are given, they get the birds whole-feathers on and not gutted, they are not frozen before feeding. They get deer if it is fresh road kill and the same with anything else fresh on the road. We get deer offal too but have to be careful not to feed too much as it leads to messy kennels.
They are wormed more frequently when they are fed a higher quantity of raw.
They have been having whole goose lately and if we have say 4 geese, 4 dogs get to eat their fill and the others get the left overs, different dogs gets first picking each time.

I've joined the beaters group. I did think about breeding chickens for them at one point, but a terraced house back garden doesnt lend itself to chicken breeding on any sort of scale!
