hey,
i am going to join BE fully up this year, i am 17 so i think that still means im a junior member.
thing is i am thinking that if i join a RC/PC then i will geta slight discount for BE (i think i am right in understanding that). I have been a member of both for years but am seriously wondering what i can get out of them.
i would be a prospect for teams in both this year as i would be more prepared for them than last year. but i still dont know really what opportunities i could get, and whether it would be worth joining RC as its cheaper etc etc.

does anyone else join a PC ?RC as well as BE and if so which do you find of more benefit to you...sorry i know this is slightly confusing but i really dont know which to do!! i would love some team opportunities but am not overly fussed about them, and i do find that both PC and PC can be very clicky (sp)..
any help much appreciated

oh and also, if this year is the year of my 18th birthday that does mean i can be a junior this year does it not? thats what i have understood from the forms!

I think PC only give you a BE discount if you have your "B test." In which case you dont have to pay a membership fee for your horse.

Im in PC, it can be clicky, they tend to have favourites when picking teams etc - but if you manage to get past that, the teams are really good fun!

hey thanks...didnt know about the whole B test thing...i thought u just needed to send a copy of your membership card to BE?

i have been asked to be on teams and have done a team friendly with them, and the same with the RC, i just dont know if its worth all the hassle or not if you can understand what i mean as although i have beena member of bth for years i have never due to injury or not being ready been able to do enough for them!

You don't need your B-test to get a discount for BE, you just need to send in a photocopy of your membership card

PCUK

I was going to join BE with PC discount last year, I have my B-Test so my DC said this was my best option. I dont know if you have a smaller discount if just a general member? I know that is the case with BSJA.

The teams are really good fun. I was supposed to be on eventing teams last year, but my horse was lame for 9 months, so obv couldnt go to any of them. I did the dressage teams though the year before on my other horse, and it was really good fun. Originally I didnt want to do it because it seemed like a long way to go just to do a dressage test - but they were great fun. Also if you get through to sansaw - its the most amazing experience ever (its like going to a mini WEG!) It also puts a bit of value on your horse if you ever want to seell them.

yes thankyou

i think whatever i do |BE will take precedence but i am thinking that PC may still be a better bet than joining the RC although friends have said their national team stuff is good if u can get that far!

I'm pretty sure you get the same discount with or without B-test (if you haven't got it then that might be a reason to stay in Pony Club and get it if you're interested in doing BHS Stages at some point as you get exemption from Stage 1 and Stage 2). I didn't get my PC membership card this year either but just ask your DC for it and it shouldn't be a problem. PC teams are great fun and I agree with Jemayni that Sansaw is an awesome experience!

I'm in a RC and BE. Last year we qualified and went to the RC Horse Trials Champs which are a 2 day event - was brilliant fun. Did Intermediate which is Pre-Novice height.

Qualified my other girl for the Dressage Champs, so a trip to Lincoln also.

Rosie has already qualified for the RC Open Hunter Trials Champs which take place at Aston Le Walls next Summer.

I find RC complements BE really well and vice versa as it's nice to do the seperate qualifiers interspersed with the Eventing, and get the team spirit. I go to all my events alone, so doing the RC stuff is lovely as everyone helps each other out, and if you qualify that's an added bonus and good fun to boot!!

They've changed the rules so now you only need to be a PC member and not have your B test. I'm a member of the PC and I'm about to renew my BE membership (it expired in June) and I find the PC rallies team training really helpful. The other big bonus of being in the PC is that once you have your AH testy ou can a direct entry to your PTT before taking your stage III . I passed my AH when I was 16 so now I can think about starting my teaching exams.

Going to Sansaw is an amazing experience. We qualified this year for the horse and pony care competition (hopefully we will qualify for something invloving actually riding next year!) and I had the best 3 days ever, and we won which was a huge bonus.

I would definitely reocmmend joining both the PC and BE. Most of the PC competitions are round BE courses anyway so quite often you end up jumping the same course in quick succession which is an advantage.

Fran you might as well just join riding club its only like £10 and will give you discount, i know what you mean though i am only going to really concentrate on BE this year but im still joining both becuase of teams and training things, as they will help me on frost and with RC and PC the champs are just like BE and ALOT better than normal un aff events.
