People who’ve done the pathway, or parts of it - how many hours does it take (both the online and the practical side), how ‘difficult’ is it (in terms of the equine knowledge and horse-care aspect) and have people felt that it’s worth it? Do you have a time limit to finish it in, or can you just stay as a coach-in-training indefinitely?
From the (very limited) information I’ve been able to find on it, the pathway itself seems to have some interesting aspects (e.g., the medical aspect, biomechanics). That’s the main thing that draws me to it. The actual instructing I’m more concerned about, partially because I’ve had a mixed bag of experiences re horse welfare as far as RDA is concerned. And partially because, as much as I’ve done some low-level instructing before, I’m far from the cheery extrovert that most RDA instructors seem to be.
For context, my current yard has a small RDA group but not on the days I’m there. So I’d have to go to another yard too for practical training, which makes getting hours in more of a hassle, though I know my current yard will help where possible.
