Hi all
Im relatively new on here but even newer to gloucestershire so could do with some recomendations from anyone in the glos area. Im looking for someone to re back my 7yr old ID x who is 4 months post op kissing spines surgery. My vet thinks that he would benefit from slowly restarting him again to teach him riding doesnt mean pain so somebody who is sensitive and not very heavy handed would be best. Any ideas etc really appreciated.
Many thanks

You can pm me.

Kissing spine opp. seems to be the 'in thing' this year I have heard of 5/6 cases where it has not helped with the general riding problems it was ment to cure. But a different approach to schooling has.

I had a fairly deep conversation a couple of weeks ago about kissing spine with a good friend of mine who is an Equine osteopath. What he said was that these operations don't address the cause of the problem, only the symptom (surgically shaving bone where they touch). If the root cause isn't identified and treated, there is a real risk that this problem will come back again.

Good luck with it.

Hi thanks for the responses. I agree entirely with you both. Not sure if Ive made myself clear, so sorry if Ive confused anybody. I want to completeley restart him ie treat him as a 3 yr old start with groud work etc to iron out any schooling or behaviour issues that may be the cause of the problems but I want this done quietly and calmly as hes a good boy but quite sensitive.
If anybody has any more suggestions/experience with this or if you dont think this is the way to go about it I more than happy to hear what you think and welcome anybodys help because all I want is to give him the best chance of sorting these things out.
Thanks once again

Your response to KS amazes me, how could you honestly know that the surgery didnt help but a new schooling program did? Have you had a horse treated for KS? Once you have seen the Xrays for this condition, and see your horse massively improved after a block you may change your mind. Candidates for the op should be carefully chosen but to say that its just fashionable shows your ignorance. It is diagnosed by direct xray evidence, its not made up!!
