I posted on Wednesday night, upset that the vet had advised my ex racer be PTS as I had recurrent lameness problems ( I thought he looked footsore but both the vet and farrier said no, he just has crap legs)

I rang that night to arrange to have him put to sleep on Thursday morning, slept on it and cancelled it on Thursday early a.m thinking I would give him the summer to see if he comes sound.

Farrier came again yesterday and I took him for a small walk down the road, he still didn't look right.

I went to the field this morning and he was on three legs, absolutely hopping lame. Called another farrier as I was sure it was his feet and mine is away now and he has a CORN!!!!!

I am so mad at everyone for giving up on him grrrrr I said it was his feet all along and everyone said no it's not and I nearly had him PTS. He's already more sound just from having his shoe removed and the poison dug out.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thank goodness you know your horse.I was told by various acquaintances to have my 8 yr old tb pts.I didnt want to give up on him and found him lovely home out at grass and hes completely field sound with no shoes.
Hope your boy continues improving.

I am not surprised that you are mad.....people rely on the professionals....the people that are supposed to know what is what, so when they misdiagnose or give bad advice they can make really bad decisions and that is not right.

Hopefully your horse will become sound and fully recover. Thankfully you still have him

Good on you knowing him better. Ours was exactly the same - on 3 legs! I have to day I thought something more serious must be going on whether it be in his foot or his legs. Turned out just to be a huge abscess that was refusing to come out.

He is sound now but was on off lame for over 3 mths as vets and farriers tried in vain to locate the initial abscess - he then got one in his other foot due to the extra weight he was putting on his good leg and went lame on both for a while.

Honestly horse eh - they don't half cause us some trouble!!!
