I have 2 TB type horses, with have high withers and I would like to ask advice on Horsewear- Amigo/Rambo winter rugs!
I need traditional neck design ie NOT high neck as rub their high withers. One destroys rugs easily, the other can overheat if too heavy a rug and loses its mane - what rugs do people recommend? They will be living out 24/7 but have a superb huge field shelter. I am fed up of cheap rugs that leak! All advice I will be grateful for.

Horseware rugs used to last for years but imo they are now not worth the money. the amigo ones in particular need repairing alot- according to my rug cleaner!

The problem with them is that they are now made in China whereas they used to be made in Ireland and were of better quality. That said, I have a Rambo Duo and its gone through 4 winters and washes and re-proofs like new every time - no complaints. I also have one or two Amigo rugs and havent had any problems with them atall either with leakage or ripping, though the Amigo Summer turnout is only made of a thinner denier fabric.

I have my own business doing Rugwashing and see a fair few come through. The Horseware range are definitely one of the higher quality rugs on the market in my opinion.

I love Horseware rugs, its the only brand I bother buying now, although they may not be as hardwearing as they were years ago i still think they're the best on the market. Fit my TB brilliantly and my warmblood too. cannot fault their fit. for your TB who over heats easily, perhaps get the Duo or the new Optimo where you can change the weights according to the weather so you can ensure he doesnt over heat, or get a lighter weight and just put a liner underneath if he needs...?
With the rug destroyer I think it depends what design you want. My Rambos have been through alot and have survived without any damage.
I know that they're coming out this autumn with lots or new designs and changes so it might be worth waiting for them rather than buying now, Although more expensive they are worth it in the long run and you can always sell them on. Ive done very well with my old rugs on ebay.

I use the amigo turnouts on my 3, they fit great with no rubbing, all are TB types with high withers. You can get 600 d or 1200 so if you have one which rips them alot best to go for the 1200. They are ripstop so only small rips

My companion mare is a 21 yr old high withered tb. The best rugs for her are Bucas. They fit beautifully and have worn well.

She has the power light. It is merely a rain sheet with a lining, and as the tin says, it kept her warm all winter (and what a bad winter!) but also kept her cool enough on the sunny warmer days as we entered spring. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending these although they are not cheap! I also have the neck covers for mine.

They also come with a 3 year guarentee ;)
