Re Moonwalkers Jack. The story so far

Yesterday I spoke to MW at length. She has already had a considerable amount of falls from rearing and she just feels that she cannot continue with Jack just in case he is a serial rearer.

So I offered two options for her to pass on to his owner.

1. If she really wanted him back and had no room at present, she was more than welcome to grass livery him at my field but she must pay the rent for this (the owner that is)

2. If the outlook was really down to the fact that the owner would not have the room and if he went back, would face being PTS, then this would cost her money, so if she was happy to give him to me, along with his passport, I would have him.

MW kindly passed on my number to the owner who rang me yesterday and these two options were discussed at length.

The owner chose Option Two.

So Jack is currently in a trailer on his way to start a new life with me! He will be having two weeks to chill out in the field with my TB before he is assessed/ridden. If it turns out that this was a one off, I will be loaning him out (where potential home is already waiting) or he will spend his twilight years as a companion. (another home already waiting)

His owner (now old owner) has asked me NEVER to sell him on, which I have promised I wont, but she has been made totally aware that he could end up being loaned out to someone.

So here I am sitting at home, awaiting arrival of the "orange" one.

At least this way, the horse is assured a few more years, even if that is being a companion to something else. So all is well that ends well.

Piccies to follow later!!!!

How kind of you

that is a nice thing for you to do

glad jack is getting a chance
on another note have you had his old owner sign anything, gotten a sales receipt for a quid or something to make it official?
i just worry that without something like that there's nothing to say you now own the horse. just i've seen so many people gifted horses only to have them taken away as passports aren't proof of ownership.

All that is currently being taken care of, as this was something I emphasised to the owner. And quite frankly if said owner was going to pull a stunt like that, she would have to pay for his livery and my charges for taking care of him before I released him from the field!

Well he's arrived!!!! promptly had nice thick turnout rug on and was taken to meet my TB.... Cue impressions of a dinosaur! Then he met the two next door, cue more impressioins of a dinosaur!!

Then, we met the mare at the bottom field and no dinosaur noises at all!!! I think he has fallen head over heels in love with her!!!!

Got some lovely pics of him which I will upload later (child has currently hidden lead to attach to computer!)

But he has settled really well and was happily surveying his new domain, talking to the girlies and eating, as well as honouring me with a quick cuddle and a nice scratch!

It was lovely to meet MW finally too....

So, chill out time begins now.... and we shall give updates as and when!

that is really good of you, less he is safe and you can assess the rearing. out of interest did the old owner tell you if he'd been reaing before

She swore blind that he had never reared before, not even out in the field.... however I have just witnessed the most impressive freestyle rear whilst making dinosaur noises!!!!

We'll just have to wait and see..... plenty of chill out time and cuddles first, let him get to know I am the woman with bucket and then take it from there......

But I must say, he is one very nicely put together boy!!!
