I am wondering if anyone can help me. I had a problem at the RC Dressage to Music Championships on the weekend as both my CD's would not play on their system( I had checked that they played on my computer & the landrover CD player. They did in all fairness find another system that would play it but only at a horrifically loud volume which totally spooked my normally well behaved mare. My walk & free walk was more like run away & scuttle ! I was told by someone that this is because my son had sent the file to me in "wave" format whereas I should have had it in "MP3" format. Is this laid down in the rules anywhere ? as I cannot find anything about it. It is far too late for me (& I can now see the funny side of it ! as I put my hand up so many times...) but hopefully I may be able to save it happening to anyone else. Many thanks
On the up side it was a wonderful weekend as everyone was so nice including the judges who were very kind & reassuring to me whilst I waited & all the stewards for their help. Also the quadrille was wonderful to watch on the Saturday night.

I have always create my music CDs as a completed Audio CD to be on the safe side, any CD player will play these.
This means the CD has to specifically formatted this way and not just used for file storage. I normally carry a second copy with the files in both wav and MP3 format to be safe but never needed it!

mine have always been .mp3 format, and yes you can - I change mine in audacity which is a free program (or get your son to sort it ;) ).

Can I change it from wave to a completed Audio CD (sorry not very tech minded !)

Just use the Media Player that comes free with Windows and use the Burn Audio CD option.
Most modern CD players will play MP3 format, but you can't guarantee the Show Centre will use a modern CD player so an Audio Cd is safest!

There's no rule which format but I always check they play on every CD in the house!
Agree it was an ace weekend, atmosphere was great as were the facilities.
We had the opposite problem in that our music was very quiet, can't even hear it on the video!

How did you get on & which class were you in? I now regret carrying on & wish that I had simply stopped & asked for it to be turned down as my mare was working really nicely in the warm up & was happy in the arena until the "rave " volume started - hindsight is a wonderful thing ! I am just trying not to think about the cost of getting up there etc ! Sorry you couldn't hear yours very well

Thanks for that I didn't know that so just as well I didn't stop ! This was only the 3rd time I had ever ridden dressage to music at a competition. The judge at E wrote on my sheet saying that it was a real shame the music was so loud that it had produced tension & erratic movements. Has anyone ever had a judge stop a dressage to music test because the music was too quiet / loud ? Mine was horrifically loud !

Use Audacity and burn on as MP3, it gets exported to/from? Audacity as a WAV file. Use NERO to burn it and hopefully result is good. Had a CD prob at BD Regionals when it stopped halfway through cob's test and they had to carry on as no one said to stop. Got good comments afterwards but would have done much better with the ***** music. BRC D2M is always fab and everyone so friendly.
