re my equine Abortion thread..........

the mare who I have renamed 'Annie' has been scanned in foal and is circa 4 months gone. The vet has left us with 4 hormone injections and if by Tuesday she hasn't expelled the contents of her uterus she (the vet) will have to empty her manually. We are all upset about this situation but we believe it for the best. I feel especially upset for the vet as being an equine obstetrician she is more used to bringing new life into this world than ending it before it has begun. Hopefully all will go to plan and there will be no after effects such as infection, laminitis etc.

hope it all goes well, I would be doing the same in your situation there are far too many horses out there and not enough good homes
