Thanks everyone for your comments on my sand school making post .

What is the difference between ordinary Sand sand , and the silica sand you guys are mentioning ??What does it do , is it better compacting for riding on or what ?

Also My sand school I have in my head anyway , would possibly be indoors , we have a huge barn / shed with a concrete style floor at present , so what drainage and sand type then ?? would I need to change floor material or put something else down first on the concrete or ???

Any thoughts appreciated ??

Thanks x

I heard something about ordinary sand being "sharp sand" and this is bad for horses as it can get into the white line of the hoof and cause major problems with some horses. The grains of sand have sharp angles and are not rounded as is silica sand. Please check on this though as I cannot be 100% sure of the info received as it was a long time ago it was mentioned and things may have changed since then.

You dont need drainage indoors but unless you go for a gel type surface it will need regular watering as sand rides deep when dry
