back in may i discovered an absses on my 10 year old mare. it was half way up her neck, and either side of it was some swelling which i assumed at the time were lymph glands. these glands had been up a few days, and she wouldnt let me brush her mane at all whilst they were up, and only a few days later out riding i discovered a huge (5 cm wide +deep) weeping hole on her neck, with puss seeping out and when you squeezed the (NOT lymph glands) puss would come out of this hole. so im not sure, the swelling either side of her neck was filled with puss. so the vet came out and we were lumped with a huge vet bill and everything was ok, she healed EXTREMLY fast, and everything was happy !:) but the day before yesterday i got her out the field, and there was a massive cut on her nose (right under the noseband area) the same size as the previous one, however not as deep.. so i have been washing it daily to make it bleed (there was signs of puss so im being extra wary) and before chucking her back out this eve, i noticed her 'lymph glands' (again NOT were the lymph glands even are, but exactly the same type of swelling as before) BACK in exactly the same place, and how i touched it, she is reacting in the same way as she did with the previous absses! soo im abit stuck here, no one has any idea what this mare has got, weve had numerous vets etc. any suggestions or ideas? shes not allergic to any of her food or anything as you can imagine we have tried nearly everything and running out of options!

Most likely there is a small bit of something in there that is causing infection. Doesn't sound like any food allergy symptoms, more just a bad wound/infected prod. I can't really figure out how you managed to not notice a 5cm wound weeping pus on her neck until you were on her back...that sounds like ridiculously careless management.
