ok, so i hacked my boy out again today, same route as time he tanked off. i did his flach strap up tighter than last week when he wouldnt stop and i had a problem again today. so its not the flash causing brake failure!

ive had him 5 months now and this is only the third time ive had a problem and its all been of late. i have a funny feeling he;s been eating another horse's food off the floor. i posted about this too a while back!!!

Many years ago I had a problem with a horse. I had everything checked and fed all sorts of silly additives etc.

I remember my saddler said, at this time of year she was inundated with people asking for saddles to be checked because of naughty horses, when really it was because many horses are not getting enough work because of the shorter days etc, and are spending more time stuck in their stables.

A tight flash will not stop a horse that wants to bugger off. I doubt if stealing a little food will impact much either.

Is it possible he is simply fitter than when you first got him and is now feeling jolly ?

the flash will only stop him running off if he opens his mouth in the first place.

have you had his teeth done?

what pace are you in when he runs off?

are you in company?

does he do it at the same point on the ride?

have you tried another rider?
