I rang my vet who recommended a farrier (who was also one recommended to me by two people on the forum) he came out today to do both the boys- after I told his it was an emergency.

Well his verdict- no thrush at all in any of his feet. His feet are great but with a little too much growth- he said because they are always on soft ground the feet never exfoliate themselves like they would if ponies were stabled or on a yard etc and could do with being done every 6 weeks instead of the 8 they were being done. He took of about a cm all round and pared back the frock and heels that was that- no confo issues.

I felt a bit silly because I'd got into a massive panic and basically begged him to come as soon as he could after all the comments- But he said they were healthy, sound feet with no issues.

I guess a picture can make things look far worse. I will try to take pics tomorrow in daylight (didnt want to take pics while the farrier was there)

Im really happy with his work- he was very professional and explained every stage of the job and what he was doing. Brill happy ending!

Nope- tbh I forgot to ask about that-the heel bulbs being close together actually don't look so close now he's been trimmed- I think it was because there was too much material there and the angle of the pics and they look much more normal although not as wide as Merlins's feet- will post pics once I see pony in daylight again!!

Good, it sounds like you found the right guy in good time. If he has weight on his frog now the shear should just grow out. You must be relieved.
