As some of you know we when we were trying ponies we visited a yard that turned out to be a dealers yard. At a later date I realised that (at the time we visited) the lady had adverts advertising herself as a dealer. But back then I'd thought she just sold on 'behalf of friends" (her words). Upon arrival we were shown the pony we had called about, and it soon became clear something wasnt 'right' with the seller (contradicting herself, suddenly going quiet when she realised I knew a friend of hers). Later that morning my child was thrown from one of the ponies, and I witnessed another pony being sold as a first pony rearing vertically with a small girl. Ponies were stabled with no bedding, two per box.
Needless to say I walked away (after being offered said pony at half price
). I suspected for a while that various adverts I saw were the same yard, but the seller had used different names and numbers.
Today I called about a pony I saw advertised in a tack shop. The number had a name next to it, and when I called the seller said she was selling this pony, and several others, on behalf of a friend (and named the name of the 'dealer' I'd been to). She encouraged me to come and try them all, but insisted another pony (some 2k more expensive) was the best of the bunch. This wasnt a friend of hers, it was her, I recognised her voice as soon as she picked up the phone. I asked where she was based and she confirmed my suspicions.
Now, I don't like this 'dealer', I think (even though I'm relativley inexperienced at this buying lark) she is unscrupulous and a downright liar. It makes me angry that people like this should be allowed to deal in children's ponies, and even a year later I'm still pi**ed off with her for what happened.
Is there any way I can report her? In my eyes anyone who advertises under different names (and she no longer trades as a 'dealer' ) and numbers has something serious to hide or hide from (the taxman?
). Who can I report her to?
