you dont know how lucky you are to have them, even if they dont get it right sometimes! This mare was 6 years old and was a livery owners 'favourite' mare-I hate to think what his least fav would have been like

. The vets etc saw her when they came to see other owners horses and nothing was said or done to help her or nail the bastard for neglect.I tried my best for her but she was sent to the butcher soon after she arrived on the yard, probably for the best

I couldnt report him as there wasnt anyone who was interested in what was going on and I would have run the risk of finding my own horse badly damaged. I am ashamed to say that all that I did was leave asap.

God Mairi, how heartbreaking not being able to do something. Such a waste but thankfully she is no longer suffering. Not the best outcome though.

If there was ever a picture of a horse just waiting to die, that is it - yes we are too quick to complain here (although I saw one not far off this condition only yesterday - the RSPCA are dealing with it)

That is awful and even though her suffering was taken away in the end by death, for me personally that is no justice for her at all.
She should not have been allowed to get into that state in the first place.
Death ends the suffering but it does not justify the situation.
That man should be prosecuted.
I am sorry that you were unable to do anything for her Mairi and I cannot even contemplate how frustrating and upsetting it must have been for you at the time

As far as I know, hes still getting away with it

. He was/is a dealer and keeps /kept an assortment of equines closed up in a run down barn.I didnt see it in person but heard from others how it was-dark, no bedding but for droppings, water when someone remembered and as little feed as possible-its costs money you know! Most of his horses were/are from Argentina and arrived here as meat horses but became saddle horses overnight = triple the selling price.
Sadly, hes only one of many and NO ONE DOES SWEET F A to change things although EVERYONE, including the relevent authorities, know about the whole tragic existence of these horses.
I will post some photos I managed to take a couple of years ago at one of the well known horse fairs this evening-just have to find the time and energy. M.x
