i was interseted in the answer to the calls question where they say they recieve over a million calls per annum and respond to 100,000. which means they only address 10% of the calls they receive so 90% of calls made are not acted on, checked or anything. Not great stats in my book.

that goes without saying! and only 383 (I think it was) inspectors of which only 5 (I think again) are equine inspectors! With revenue of £95 million even taking into account running costs etc, why can they not afford to employ more - I bet they aren't even paid that much. And also, only something like 59 prosecutions last year!! That's an abominably low rate.

They get a very reasonable pay, starting wage in 2001 was £22,000

Don't forget, many of the calls are answered by Ventura, a private company that will employ anyone off the street, and with minimal training sets them to answering calls - they needen't know a thing about animals.

RSPCA's resources are diverted to paying a premium to a private company for this service.

I understand the RSPCA is one of the richest organisation in the country. I think they need to be asked more searchig questions and be held to account. This may be contentious but perhaps they should not have wasted so much money on banning hunting.....

The RSPCA are a load of money wasting, time wasting interfering busy bodies who don't deserve the reputation that they have got. They routinely put HEALTHY animals to sleep who are awaiting new homes because a new one comes in - the longest resident gets put down, they don't respond to calls about serious problems, they intimidate, badger & harrass, pretend that they have powers of seizure (they don't) and arrest (they don't). Failed court cases get paif for not by the RSPCA but out of Central Funds i.e the taxpayer, and the Inspectors are not reprimanded for the intense badgering and harrassment of the animal owner. I see & hear peoiple supporting the RSPCA and it does make me mad!!!
