My horse has been out 24/7 for the past couple of years and i am planning to move him but he will be stable kept. Is there any advice on adjusting him to being kept in again or do they generally just take to it??

depends on the personality of the horse. I've seen some happily settle, while others kick the door with frustration

In my experience they hate it - and can get very depressed. Is there no way round this?

There's not really a way round it as if i leave him out he will be on his own and i know he would hate that.
He's generally very laid back and sometimes a bit 'lazy' so i'm hoping that he doesn't mind being back in at night. especially as last winter we had a few behaviour probs and i'm convinced that they stemmed from being out in the cold etc.

It depends on how accustomed he was to stabling before he was out 24/7.
Mine had not been stabled for 3 years as he kept jumping out of his stable at our old yard however he had to come in last Sat for a night and was absolutely fine - he is greedy and was given a hay mountain though and his friends were all in for the night too. So he was much better than we expected him to be (there was an alternative paddock he could have gone into for the night if he got very unsettled but there was not much room for everyone to go in it so it was only for those who got very upset)
However he had been coming in for feed and some hay for a few hours every weekend for the last few years quite happily.
Could you start bringing your horse in for a few hours at a time and feeding him in his stable so he can gradually get used to it before he has to come in over night?

Hi there, I have a Welsh Section D, who was used to living out 24/7 in all weathers naked and 3 years old when I bought her. She'd never even seen the inside of a stable but the yard I moved her to insisted that all horses were kept in at night. She took to it from day 1 and now loves being a stabled horse!!

So he will still be able to go out during the day?
That shouldn't bother him at all then. Going from out 24/7 to stabled 24/7 must be a shock for them.
